Bern Davis of BlahBlah Blog nominated me for the “Versatile Blogger” award. I would like very much to thank her for her kindness and encouragement. Any woman who has a favorite part of speech is my kind of gal!
Having never previously heard of the award and having never received any award for anything ever, I am thrilled and grateful.
There are some rules that go with this nomination … which, it turns out, is the same as receiving the award. I couldn’t think of any way to say thank you that would improve on “Thank you.” I’m honored. If this were the Oscars, I’d make a long, boring speech. I would thank everyone I’ve ever known and people I would like to know until they gave me the hook and dragged me bodily from the stage, but this isn’t the Academy Awards and I’ve always thought those endless speeches were stupid. Just say “Thank you” and get on with it. So I shall.
Here are the RULES for The Versatile Blogger Award:
- If you are nominated, you’ve been actually gotten the Versatile Blogger award. How cool is that?
- Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s courtesy. Not as common as it ought to be.
- Include a link to their blog. That’s also courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it. Bet you can.
- Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you have discovered and/or follow regularly. Pick blogs or bloggers that you think are excellent (perhaps that is self-evident?)

Rantings of an Amateur Chef: Recipes and a lot more.
A Detailed House: Great houses I could never afford and might not even want but great stuff to look at and some good ideas that you can adapt to your own home.
It’s Alive: Great pictures, just pictures but such wonderful pictures! I’ve learned a lot from Bob and I thank him!
Now, about those 7 things about me I haven’t mentioned before:
- I don’t have nipples or a belly button. Does that mean I’m an alien?
- I talk too much or not at all. I do not seem to have a “slow down” switch: it’s full speed or silence. My friends know this and put up with me anyhow. That’s how I know they are really my friends.
- I’m so happily married that it scares me.
- I’m terrified of spiders, but have no problem with snakes. Unless they are poisonous.
- Twice I have found a cockroach in my box of Dunkin Donuts. I try not to think about the implications of that.
- My friend Sergei taught me everything I need to know about computers. He said “Just keep hitting buttons. Something will happen.” This sounds better if you say it with a Russian accent.
- If the Mother Ship comes and offers me a ride to anywhere in the greater galaxy, all bets are off.
When I told my husband about number 7 on the preceding list, he actually looked worried. That worries ME. Do we read too much science fiction?

Thank you so much! Your site is so beautifully designed, so elegant that I always feel inadequate. If you ever do a feature on houses that belong to people who can’t afford to update it, clean only if company is coming, and own a lot of dogs, let me know! I’m perfect for THAT feature

Oh no!! Please don’t feel inadequate! I just show these homes for ideas, but want people to be able to DIY and emulate them without the ridiculous price tag!
And as far as clean? We have 4 dogs (3 of them big) and 2 kids – if company comes, it is frenzy of cleaning!! Ha! I do want to work on a section of under $100 room updates (even the kitchen!) because so much can be done with a little creativity

I wouldnt trade all the dog hair for the world though! They are just so funny! Mine “made” their own doggie doors by busting through 2 different screen doors (I guess they wanted options!), so they could go swim in the muddy river whenever they like and come back in the house! To me, dust sounds divine!! Haha!! A house without dogs is just that – a house. Dogs make it a home…and the home comes with tumbleweeds of fur!
