The Golden Days Begin With A Dental Checkup

It was a beautiful morning and if I hadn’t had a dentist appointment, it would have been a great day for a photo shoot. I didn’t want to go to the dentist anyhow and if it weren’t for all those reminders from the office on how overdue I am for a check up, I would have happily canceled and wiled the bight hours away in the woods and by the streams.

A tiny waterfall behind the leaves.

As it was, I had the presence of mind to toss the little Canon point and shoot into my rucksack. That’s why I bought it, so I wouldn’t be reduced to trying to use my cell phone. Do not tell me what great pictures I can get with my phone. I don’t care. My phone is not a camera. I have issues with taking pictures using non-camera-shaped objects.

A red barn in Mendon.

I found a long-lost waterfall, waving grasses, a great old red barn. A white farmhouse with a tilted white well. Some color on trees and vines. It’s just the beginning, but I’m hoping this will be a good one. A long autumn, a bright autumn. The last good time before winter closes in again.

All photos taken using the Canon PowerShot SX 260 HR, processed in Photoshop.

And I didn’t have a single cavity!

  1. I meant to ask you in your last post of the waterfalls if you had a picture of the red barn. And, her it is. . .great photo! Old buildings and barns have so much character and if only their walls could talk! LOL:>)

    • I could hear it, but it was hidden by foliage. I had to find it by following the sound. I didn’t quite do it justice but there was no way to get either a better angle, or just closer. Not one of those places it’s safe to go walking about. It is playful little stream.

  2. I’m really looking forward to this Autumn. You’ve got a head start on what will come for us in about 3 weeks. There’s a fine line between our Fall color period & the start of our 8 month rainy season. We’ve had exceptionally beautiful, sunny days this Summer. It’s been in the mid-70s most of the past 3 months.

There’s certainly nothing wrong with your Canon point & shoot. The camera is but a tool, you’re the photographer. I love your captures of your area & your home. I detest camera phones although some people insist on using them instead of real cameras. To me they’re just plain lazy. End of speech! Thanks for just being you.

    • I have taken a picture on my phone probably 3 or 4 times over the years because it was the only thing I had that could capture an image, but it feels all wrong to me. Yeah, lazy, but mostly … wrong. Not a camera. I don’t care how many pixels it’s got. It’s still not a camera.

Talk to me!
