The back story (thanks to Sharla at catnipoflife). Usually I reblog such posts, but posts with embedded video don’t reblog or scoop properly.
British film director Sir Ridley Scott created an international film making contest titled “Tell It Your Way.” More than 600 aspiring directors entered.
The requirements were that the film could be a maximum 3 minutes long, contain no more than six lines of dialogue or narrative, and present a compelling story. The winner was “Porcelain Unicorn” from American director Keegan Wilcox. It presents a lyrical, touching story of an act of conscience and kindness of a boy to a girl in a time a great peril … and their reunion many years later.
To me, it’s the story of how a single act of conscience can change the course of lives.
This is that film:
If that doesn’t touch your heart, I don’t know what will.

Can a three minute movie make me cry? This one did. Sometimes even the smallest detail can invoke the whole. A tiny unicorn: world War !!. One small girl: the horror of the holocaust.
It has had that effect on pretty much everyone. It’s a remarkable piece … it says so much, yet it’s so small.
I stopped it two seconds into the film to make sure you found the youtube version without the hate ad. I’ve watched that video at least 4 times and cry each time I do. The message behind the film is so pure, so poignant that it tears at your heart strings.
I don’t know how I missed it until now. It’s a world in just a couple of minutes. Amazingly good work.
As I sit here rubbing tears out of my eyes, I wonder why they don’t have “love it” buttons on here. And speaking of buttons, this short film hit all the right ones. Thanks Marilyn for sharing this beautiful work, even if it did make me cry!
I felt the same way. It’s a remarkable bit of film making. I’ve watched hours of movies on the holocaust that failed to elicit a reaction this powerful. One can but imagine what that director might do in a full length film. Glad you liked it too.
