  1. Sounds like a truly blessed day, Garry & Marilyn:>) Photos look great and delicious! First time in over 30 years hubby and I did not cook. Our son and daughter-in-law drove up from Florida with all the trimmings! Just the four of us and still had leftovers – LOL:>) Scott was so cute when he called and insisted for us to NOT do any cooking…pay back, he said with a hearty laugh. Then, of course, came the EXCEPT for…yes, I had to bake the good ol’ Southern Pecan Pie and fry the lacy cornbread. Loved doing it…brought back wonderful childhood memories! HAPPY THANKSGIVING with hugs to you both across the miles:>)

    • My son always does the turkey. I do trimmings. My daughter in law does the custard pie. Sarah Lee does the apple. Then there were the mashed potatoes, the mashed yams and squash (we call it squams), the honey carrots, the two kind of cranberry sauce and about 70 pounds of leftovers and that was with 7 people including two teenage girls who started a food fight. They are 16 going on 5. KK said we need a bigger table. I pointed out that we have a huge table an a small dining room and we are NOT getting a bigger house. It was Thanksgiving and it was just fine!! Glad yours was lovely too.

  2. As always, we have far more food than we can possibly consume. Factor in that most of us are eating less and the task seems even more daunting. I remember years ago when our family used to go to Aunt Gis and Uncle Emile in Amityville, L.I. “The Country” as we called it back then. TONS of food!! Adults ate at one table, us kids at another table. The Men used to go downstairs to Uncle Emile’s “Guys only” room. A few years later, when I was old enough and I went down to the Guy’s room, WOW!! One other Thanksgiving memory from my working days. The Chinese restaurant near the TV station was the only place open in Boston after I finished my usual holiday stories and pre-taped my “live” shots”.. So, we had Roasted Duck, fried rice and lots of Long Island Teas to celebrate. Kind of like Ralphie and family from “A Christmas Story”. Everything smells so darn good this afternoon as “the kids” do the cooking. !! I believe I’m on KP.

    • There is no valid use for leftover mashed potatoes, mashed squash and yams (squams), but cranberry sauce, turkey, stuffing, and my fancy carrots will live to fight another day. Cleanup almost completed. A lot of desert left, but no one wants any. As usual. Happy (burp) Thanksgiving.

  3. I have been drunk twice in my life: once at an outdoor gathering in Vermont, and the other time (my first) at one of your Christmas parties in Uniondale, where I OD’d on your fabulous eggnog. Happy memories of BOTH times! xo

    • No one drinks anymore here. But with medicinal marajuana on the horizon, who knows? Turkey roasting. Pies baked. Cranberry sauces refrigerating. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on the telly. And the day is warm, bright and sunny. I think that’s as good as it gets. Happy Turkey day to you, too!!

  4. Enjoy every moment!

  5. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, enjoy your turkey, enjoy your family, and enjoy each other. So blessed we are.

    • Turkey is in the oven all all is well with the world … for the moment, anyhow. Enjoy the blessings of your day and let us hope for an uneventful holiday season and a peaceful, sane year to come. Miss you terribly.
