It’s a gray, rainy day, more like November than January. It has been raining slowly but steadily since the middle of the night and there are no more than a few remnants of snow remaining on the ground. We need sunshine and I’m just the person to provide some!
Rays of the autumn sun
Bright autumn flowers
December sunrise
Dawn over the Atlantic
Sunny lily
Sun after snow
Solitude at sunrise
Sun streaks by Crown and Eagle central canal
The sun, just above the horizon in April. My woods.
Cue up Richie Havens!! My favorite of all your wonderful photos are the ones I call the “Dr. Zhivago” shots because they remind me of some of the stunning scenes in that film, particularly the sun streaming through the snowy woods. I’m humming “Lara’s Theme” right now.
Would you believe I’ve never seen Dr. Zhivago? It’s one of those movies I just missed. And it’s rarely on TV and we don’t own it … so, never seen it. But I’ll take your word for it and thank you!
Thank you! Just as I was pouring my first cup of coffee, out came the sun. I don’t know how long it will be with us … many clouds up there and snow on the way … but for a few moments, how bright it was!
With camera in hand, exploring European lands, cultures, food, and drink...mostly with a plan, but sometimes enjoying the adventure of just getting lost.

Now THAT is what I call photography! Those are not pictures, they are art through the lens!

That IS the idea
I’ve been trying to capture the ultimate “sun shining through leaves and branches” picture for more than 30 years. I’m still at it.
