If you’ve forgotten, this is what spring looks like. It will come again. I’ve been promised.

It arrived in Manchester yesterday, but seems to have buggered off again today like I gatecrasher at a party who’s just realised he’s been rumbled 😉

All I can say is AT LEAST IT’S NOT SNOWING!

methinks it will not be under-appreciated this year.

I think maybe the usual complaints about it being too hot won’t be as loud as usual. But trust me, around here people will complain anyhow. Complaining about the weather is our regional sport.

Spring will come, and you’ll see it with a whole new delight! Thinking of you.

Thanks Helen. I have to remind myself that I’ve been through major surgery before — more than once — and I’m here to tell the tale. I’ll get through. I just hope when I get out, the sun is shining!

I had hoped to see a crocus before I went into the hospital, but it’s not going to happen. Too much ice and snow still trying to melt. But maybe by the time I come home there will be a flower or two.

Doubt we’ll see signs of spring any time soon here either. But, I can hardly wait for warmer days to melt the ice and snow to melt away… Fall will be here before we know it. Let’s hope Mother Nature doesn’t misplace spring and summer this year. When are you scheduled? Thoughts are headed your way each day… 🙂

Cardiac catheterization Wednesday, Surgery Thursday (March 6). I’m trying to teach Garry enough so he can post updates, but he’s not feeling well himself — we both have colds — and we are both a bit distracted (to say the least). I don’t know how long I’ll be in. Somewhere around a week is the best guess. I get to have my birthday in the hospital this year. Oh well.

My thoughts and prayers are with you both. YOU take good care of you… I know that Gary will. Have Gary to take you out for a Birthday Extravaganza soon as you’re in the pink! Love, Bette

Thanks Betty! Maybe the one GOOD thing to come out of this will be getting to spend my birthday at home rather than in the hospital. We had been planning to go out for Japanese food but it would be a waste of money until we are feeling better.

HI, Marilyn. FEEL BETTER… Whenever you get to that Japanese restaurant, have some steak and shrimp for me. Haven’t had any since a road trip to NY in the 1980s. Wishing you a Very Happy Feel Better Birthday and a Speedy Recovery too! ((((( hugs ))))) Bette

I forget what this Spring thing is that you speak of, but it sure looks lovely! I awoke to seven inches of the fluffy, white stuff this morning. I’m trying to look on the bright side; shoveling is great exercise!

We won’t know until morning whether we got the snow or not. The TV weather guys were a little indefinite. I’m hoping — just for once — we get missed. That would give me hope. We still have a lot of snow and ice on the ground from all the previous storms. Shoveling isn’t such great exercise. Bad for your back. Good upper body workout, though 🙂

I really hope it misses you all, too. You’ve really been blasted with snow this winter. 🙂

Yes. We’ve had a lot of snow. A lot of cold. A lot of ice. Not the MOST snow, ice or cold we’ve ever had, but possible the nastiest combination of all three, at least in anybody’s memory. So not getting this one would be a nice change. But … well … what will be will be. I’ve given up trying to second guess the weather. It hasn’t really worked out all that well. Thanks for the thought. If you are properly plugged into the universe, maybe you will make it go away!

Daffodils are blooming here, at least for those in deer-free neighborhoods. Those of us not in such neighborhoods call those colorful swaths of springtime blossoms buffets.

But do you get buried in snow? I don’t think you get the kind of snow we do this side of the globe, but I could be wrong. I love Autumn. I could live in Autumn all year round.

Us on the coast, we don’t get snow. Those inland and south of us do get snow. Autumn and Spring are our favourite months. Our winters are not brutal but our summers can be.

I’ve lived in hot climates and I remember summers with temps exceeding 42 C. It was indeed brutal.

First we complain about the heat of summer, then we whine about the snow and ice and cold of winter. Overall, I’ll take the heat.

Last year, it finally showed up in the middle of May. If this storm misses us and it might, maybe there’s a chance. But I think my opportunity for crocus won’t be till next year.

I wish I had an answer. We’re trying to figure out how much snow we are getting, whether we are far enough west to miss the storm, or south enough to be in the thick of it. Maybe by the middle of April?
