The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog. Note that Serendipity has not missed a day of blogging this entire year. WordPress ran the statistics on the 29th of December, so it appears two days short — but it’s not, really.
It’s been an insanely busy year. I want to give a big thank you to Garry and Rich who carried this blog without me for several months when I was too sick to do it myself.
Rich organized months of posts working from my archives. Garry posted daily updates while I was in the hospital and for several weeks after I came home — even though he was worried, exhausted, and driving back and forth to the hospital — 70 miles each way — every day.
The success of this blog is not mine alone.
Rich Paschall’s ANGEL COMES OUT and DON’T DRINK THE KOOL AID – THE JONESTOWN MASSACRE were the two big posts in 2014. Congratulations, Rich!
Here’s an excerpt:
The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 110,000 times in 2014. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 5 days for that many people to see it.

And to you. I hope this is a good one … and an easy one. I’d like an absence of drama.

Wow. Perfect attendance. Impressive. According to my report, I posted 425 times in the 365 days of 2014, but there were days when I didn’t post at all, so my longest streak (from 8/20 to 12/8) lasted only 111 days.

I had help. Remember, I was out of commission for a couple of months. I could barely breathe, much less post. Most of March, all of April were Garry and Rich doing the whole thing.

You get by with a little help from your friends.

Indeed I did. I could not have done it without their help. For that matter, without Garry’s help, I’d probably be dead. And then there was the well. 2014 was the year we survived because friends helped us when we needed it most.

It was great fun to rummage through the archives for articles and photo galleries to post. Thanks for trusting me with the keys to the vault. As for Angel, I think he got about as many views as Sunday Night Blog got all year. I believe that is the power of a true story that in many ways writes itself. Congratulations on another great year of SERENDIPITY.

It was a very good post and one of the rare times when a popular post was also an excellent one. Congratulations!

Thank you. It’s especially remarkable since I was out of commission and in the hospital for a good chunk of it.
