Counterintuition – Fierce Dogs Need Warning Label!

These pictures tell the tale. Last year, the FedEx guy was so terrified by our dogs he broke our fence vaulting it to get away from these fierce canines. He was apparently also afraid of white-haired women because when I went out to talk to him, he ran away from me, too. I’m sure that Bonnie and Nan were delighted. They have been trying to terrify someone their whole lives and finally succeeding must have been deeply satisfying. Better than biscuits.

So now, we have a sign because a strapping six-foot delivery guy was scared to death by our two terriers. The UPS guy simply brings biscuits. I realized against all logic and reason, we need to warn people that we have dangerous, life-threatening beasts in our yard. On the up side, maybe they will think twice before opening the gate.

  2. Yes, I love our UPS driver and if FedEx finds me then maybe I’d like him also. I usually get a note delivered by the postman that FedEx can’t find me. UPS also likes my dogs.
Just imagining the man running from your cute dogs is hilarious. We’re you fined or charged for his clothing?

  3. Imagine how they feel when they see me! FedEx just leaves our packages by the mailbox now, even when I’m inside. I don’t like them very much.

  4. OMG that’s hilarious! That postman needs to join the Olympic team for high jump if he cleared that fence. Those sharp points at the top would deter me. πŸ™‚

  5. I’ve read that posting such a sign can *increase* your liability because it implies that you knew your dogs were dangerous.

    • If you don’t have a sign, your liability for failing to warn people is significant. I am glad to have it so people don’t open the gate and let the dogs loose. I’m far more worried about my dogs than I am what my little terriers might do to people. There is traffic on our road and I don’t want the dogs up there! Anyway, around here, you have to have a sign to indicate that you have dogs. It doesn’t mean they are dangerous, just that they are there.

  6. Another example of why UPS is better than FedEx! This, and the movie “Castaway.” xo
