Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.

I love that you chose a single color – I was thinking the same thing – Fall is my favorite season.

Thanks. Really, it chose it self. This is New England so I have a lot of foliage pictures. Plus I just got the new NIK suite and I’ve been playing with effects. This gave me motivation to mess around with various effects. It was mostly all one tree … one enormous old maple that had turned completely yellow gold. I took about 60 shots of it last October. So the choice was pretty easy.

What is the NIK suite please?

First, here’s a link: http://www.amazon.com/Nik-Software-Complete-Collection-Professional/dp/B001HARW30/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
This is a link to the collection on Amazon, but it’s actually a Google suite of tools that works with Photoshop and I believe other graphic programs. They give you a lot of control over how you sharpen, brighted, and manipulate light and color in a digital photograph … finer tuning than you have using Photoshop alone and different. I don’t know which other graphic products they work with, but they do work with other tools. They had a “special” last week, the whole suite for $150 and I’ve been having a ton of fun with them since. Eventually it will probably be just another set of special filters and tools, but right now, they are a wonderful new toy and I’m having lots of fun.

My challenge is figuring out all the Blog features. I do not have Photoshop nor a camera yet- it was stolen in Germany. I have some minimal features on my MacBook Pro however. Do you have to have Photoshop to apply the Suite?

You will have to check the NIK site. I believe it works with other graphics packages and may work alone. I’m not sure, honestly. I just got them last week. Check out: http://support.google.com/nikcollection/ and see if you can find the information you need.
They do have some pretty good tutorials on WordPress. That’s how I learned to do almost everything. Start here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page and see if you can get at least the basic stuff worked out. That’s how I did it and the information is reasonably well-written and they cover most stuff you need to know. I found some things I wanted to do turned out to be impossible. Check it out. Good luck!!

It’s doable. Audio wasn’t supported when I started, but they’ve added a lot of audio and video functionality in recent months. I don’t use it and I’m not sure whether all templates support every format. Good luck!!
