  1. I still use Wal-Mart for hair care, other personal care items. A few basic foods are cheaper. Books are usually 1/3 off cover price.
I purchased great dorm room stuff at Target, best deal on those extra long twin sheets, desk stuff, dorm refrigs, etc.
I don’t spend much at these stores now but I found their prices very low.
Maybe that’s just in my area.

    • We buy eyeglasses and contact lenses there. And get eye exams. Underwear is always cheaper there. I buy a lot of stuff on Amazon and it is often much cheaper there than in any store … with free deliver. It depends on where you live, too. We don’t have much shopping here, so if I want a choice, online is often a better deal.

    • I didn’t buy clothing. I bought air conditioners. I don’t buy my clothing at Walmart.

        • The funniest thing about Walmart is that a lot of the stuff ISN’T cheap. It’s actually more expensive than buying on sale at better stores, but a lot of people don’t know what the prices are elsewhere, so they buy at Walmart and assume it’s a bargain. But for appliances and housewares, we have only two places (other than buying online): Walmart and Target. Usually, I buy online, but sometimes, you have to actually go buy in person. Air conditioners are one of those things and $99 for a room size air conditioner is about as good as it gets. Now … how long they will last? That’s anyone’s guess.
