A modern photograph with a hint of the old west. The wheels of the stage leave tracks in the dusty main street of Tombstone, Arizona. The ghosts of the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday linger nearby, watching.

Just let your imagination run free! I loved the saloon, by the way. It’s the one Wyatt gets a quarter share of at the beginning of the movie.

Loved our trip, including the old magazines we found in the shops. Where else would you find feature articles on folks like Morgan Woodard, Harry Carey, Jr., and Jack Elam?

I’d love to go back … preferably not when it’s 124 outside.

I liked Tombstone when I visited. But the statues at the OK Corral were a bit cheesy. Maybe they’ve changed them since then.

We didn’t take the tour. We just ambled around pretending we were about to meet the Earps 🙂

I don’t think you would be disappointed. It looks EXACTLY like the set for the movie because (ta da) it WAS the set for the movie Tombstone. We loved it. Just … not in the full heat of summer. It was breathtakingly hot. Like breathing in the air from an oven.
Next, Deadwood!!

I guess we aren’t the only fans of the movie, eh? The town was used to shoot the movie and if you have a good imagination … well … it’s a GREAT day, even including the unbelievable heat.

Val Kilmer stole the show.

Yes, he did. I have never really like anything else Kilmer did, but I absolutely LOVED him in Tombstone. He was perfect. Actually, I just love Tombstone, so visiting the town was a total treat for us. When they shot the movie there, it was the only “big thing” to happen since Tombstone became an official ghost town. Since its rebuilding for the movie, it now actually has inhabitents. Yes, it’s a tourist trap but I’m a tourist. Garry’s a tourist. We loved it. Every heat-stroke inducing minute of it 🙂
