COLD SUNSHINE, COLD WATER

cold sun 11

It’s a cold sun in the November sky. The branches are bare now. Even the late-clinging oak leaves are gone. Winter is coming  — and our oil tank is empty. No hot water, no heat and the temperature is dropping.

What happened to the delivery? This is the first time in 13 years we’ve been missed. Sigh. It’s always something. Got to get the truck here to fill us! And prime the boiler too. Another sigh.

  2. Ack! Hoping that gets resolved soon. BTW, loving the daylilies in your header. Do they call that particular variety “ditch lillies” in your neck of the woods? They do here and I find that, while accurate, strange because it lends a sort of negative connotation. Maybe it’s just words and I need to get over it. 😀

    • Everyone just calls them day lilies, sometimes tiger lilies. They grow wild, but they aren’t wildflowers. They are domestic lilies originally imported from India that have gone “wild.” I’ve never heard them called “ditch lilies,” though I suppose it’s accurate enough. They really improve the quality of roadsides … along with black-eyed susans, another domestic flower gone wild.
