Monument
Small town, overly fond of monuments has turned the town common into marble clutter. From the civil war, through all the other wars in which our soldiers have died. Perhaps smaller monuments more in balance with available space?
The photographs were taken by both Garry and I over the course of a couple of years using a variety of cameras and covering all seasons.

Still, a lovely collection of images. I especially like the one with the American flag.

Nice take on the Monument theme! To me, it’s sad seeing monuments to war. They’re all over Tennessee where I lived for three years. Even sadder are those that list names of the fallen. Yet, they seem to be a necessity for people who have lost to gain a certain amount of closure. War truly is hell, not only for the dead and wounded, but for the survivors as well—both soldiers and family.
Meanwhile, you’re welcome to come and see what my take on the theme is:

Hang onto your monuments, they’re a part of your history even if you feel a bit cluttered.

It’s gotten kind of funny. It’s not a very big common and it’s almost bumper to bumper monuments. Endearing in its own way 🙂

Marvelous monuments. Us here in the west don’t find them as easily as you guys on the east.
