Spring!
Just when I was ready to give up … This morning the sun came out. Two tulips actually bloomed and the Mayflowers are all over the grounds. Ours are blue, but they sometimes are pink or white. They grow everywhere and are the state flower of Massachusetts.
It’s not much of a garden this year. I can see some signs of Solomon’s Seal coming up, but no sign of roses or lilies.
Maybe they will yet surprise us. We have many more tulips up, but there don’t seem to be any buds on the leaves. We still can hope! Meanwhile, there are two bouquets of spring flowers on the woodstove.
We had a few daffodils … many fewer than usual, but better than nothing. The long cold winter took a toll on the garden, but it’s doing its best to make a comeback.

I’ve got surprise flowers coming into bloom. I didn’t plant them so it’s quite exciting to see what’s going to appear!

One of the joys of a new house … discovering whatever was planted by previous owners, then playing “what’s that?” as they bloom 🙂 Looks like you’ve got some nice wildflowers. Don’t be too eager to get rid of them. They are pretty, hardy, and need no maintenance. I nurture them.

I prefer a slightly wild look to a garden, rather than something manicured. Even if it’s technically weeds. I just need to make sure they don’t get out of control!

All semblance of control in our gardens is gone. We just let the flowers do their own thing and it looks surprisingly good 🙂

Here in Calgary, it’s snowing outside as we speak …
Next year I’m going with plastic tulips.

SNOWING? Yikes!! Well, I guess I’m not moving to your neighborhood. Mine’s bad enough!

Interesante…. I have had Solomon’s seal growing in my yard since forever. Tried to kill it off for quite a few, since I did not recognize. ’tis a hardy one, huh?
After shaking some most annoying pictures in my head of Tiny Tim (thanks, Mr.A) out of me, would add the fact of spring being a most miraculous event…making us want more, more, more please?
Weather is…. ehhhh, weather. Good years, bad years…. regardless, we are here. 😉

Solomon’s Seal is an endangered wildflower. Nurture and be grateful it chose to grow for you 😉

Thanks! It does give me hope. Today started out gorgeous, but now the sun has retreated. Maybe it will reappear soon. I hope so.

I think I saw Tiny Tim and Miss Vicki tip-toeing through our garden.

So they are the ones that crushed the wild strawberries!

Thank you for bringing some Spring onto my screen! How are you doing? I think about you a lot even though I am not here often of late.

Spring is still barely made any inroads here. It’ll go direct to summer — as it frequently does in this region. But I miss the flowers. I’m doing okay, all things considered 🙂
