Back from our mini vacation, I want to say thanks to Tom and Ellin who must be the best hostess and host anywhere. I’ve been to expensive hotels with less fantastic cuisine and far worse accommodations.

Just getting our of the house and into a different environment with good friends was refreshing!

Portland, OR is famous for their roses and subsequent Rose Festival activities. These include a parade of ships that gather from around the world. They get there via the Pacific Ocean and progress up the Columbia and Willamette rivers to be seen by the visitors. Due to budget restriction caused by the stupid fight in Washington last year none of the military ships made it. This year all is back to normal. Somehow everything mysteriously got better since last year. 🙂

I agree. Tom and Ellin are terrific old friends. They make us feel at home, serve wonderful food and keep us laughing. Ellin is in a class by herself as hostess. But it IS a joy to be back in our bed. If only we could take it with us.
