LILIES IN THE WOODS

72-Bright-Lilies-29Jun_09

The day lilies have spread from the garden to the woods. Backlit by the sun, they are truly glorious. And huge. I know I’ve gotten shorter … but I’m pretty sure that lilies didn’t use to be 6 feet tall … or were they?

  1. I know that some gardeners refer to these flowers dismissively as “roadside lillies” and complain about how they take over. Personally, I love the way that walk into the woods and make little circles of blossoms. I have them everywhere here!

    1. Thanks. Hurricane Arthur is coming up the coast tomorrow. I don’t think we’ll get much of it … he’s coastal and we aren’t … so maybe the garden will survive. And we really NEED rain.

  2. Seems taller than usual. I remember them being around 4 foot, but then again, I was a kid then and that’s a long time to remember!
