A bright, beautiful first morning at the cabin
It rained hard most of the day yesterday and started off with heavy rain this morning, too.

It’s ironic. All summer, it has been sunny and dry. Beautiful weather, pretty much from May through September. As soon as we got to Maine, it began to rain.
And then, it rained …
Maybe it’s nature’s way of telling me I need to relax … to not run around doing “stuff.” Still, it is gorgeous here and I was looking forward t the opportunity to take some pictures.
Rain, rain …
I did take some shots of the rain yesterday, but it’s hard to see it. You can see it’s wet, but the rain is elusive.

It changed every few minutes. I think all of New England is like that. It’s certainly like that at home, but maybe even more so here! It was raining when we got back up the mountain to Jackman. It’s still raining.

The deck/porch of the cabin is absolutely gorgeous. October in northern Maine can be unpredictable. The two first weeks are usually beautiful but the summer was dry and sunny, so perhaps nature needs to be in charge again. But when we are away and want to explore our surroundings and take photos, sun is a must.
So I’m glad for you to read it is back. Enjoy!

It was back in Skowhegan, gone again in Jackman. There are very local showers.

It wasn’t raining 80 miles away in Skowhegan, but when we got back to Jackman, it was — is — raining again. Not raining in Uxbridge, though. Weird weather in New England.

Same with the rain here too. It seems locked in for the next week or so. Now it’s bucketing and I want to sow my field beans and garlic. This is a splendid photo of the Adirondack chairs. I once saw a pair like this way out in the Zambian bush – two hundred miles from anywhere. I think they were for sale, and I wondered if a local craftsman had copied them from some missionary’s/expat’s chairs. That same day I saw a Welsh Dresser in a similar location, rising out the elephant grass. Most surreal.

I have a couple of them at home and I love the way they look and feel when you are sitting in them … but they are very difficult to get out of. The angle traps you. Comfortably.
It must have been a startling sight in the Zambian bush, especially combined with the Welsh dresser! Very Dali-esque!

Indeed, the rain is always elusive. Our region is experiencing the same wet spell. 😀
Not very good news for clothes that needed drying!

Back in Israel where we didn’t own dryers because the sun always came out … eventually … I remember anxiously waiting for a dry spell during the winter rainy season. Eventually, we did buy a drying, but sunshine was always the better choice.

I would prefer it be raining at home. No drought up here, just down there. What a difference few hundred miles can make, eh?

After a totally dry summer, it was nice to see nature remember how to rain, but I’m glad today is all bright and shiny! Because a third day of rain would have been over the top for me.

I love rains. We stayed in Meghalaya ( means Abode of clouds) for two and a half years and moved to this present city recently. It used to rain daily in the evening and weather was awesome throughout the year. Your pics reminded me of our previous city. Thanks for sharing beautiful pics.

I had to look Meghalaya up. Yes, you would know rain. You get a great deal of it, though it sounds like a pretty nice place if you don’t mind the wet. And since the patterns leaves you beautiful weather all day, I guess you get the best of both worlds. I’d love to see some of YOUR pictures!
