Share Your World – 2015 Week #8

Your favorite blog post that you have written? (add link)

My personal favorite is not my most popular, but I think it’s the funniest. It makes me laugh each time I read it. “Oy Vay! Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” was written in response to one of the Daily Prompts.

For those who don’t remember, back in the good old days, WordPress issued writing prompts every day. They were fresh, sometimes clever or funny. A bunch of us enjoyed writing them, then seeing what others had done using the same prompt.

What do you feel is the most enjoyable way to spend $500? Why?

I’m absolutely, completely, totally, and redundantly torn between a weekend somewhere with Garry or a piece of camera gear. Maybe a lens. Or, if I shop carefully, a whole camera. Making this choice would be delightful. I would be happy with either outcome. Rarely in my life has my problem been how to dispose of money. It has always had a way of disposing itself, quickly and effectively.

If you could know the answer to any question, besides “What is the meaning of life?”, what would it be?

Um … can I take “the meaning of life,” for 500, Alex? I think I already have the answer. In the immortal words of Bill Belichick, “It is what it is.”

Where do you eat breakfast?

Like so many of us, I plead guilty to drinking my coffee and munching a few cookies while checking my email and comments. In my defense, I only use cups with screw-on lids and have a sealed keyboard so crumbs don’t become permanent residents.

  1. I always find it interesting to read your responses. You always get me on a couple of them. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

    • I’m always looking for a different approach. This time, I read yours before I wrote mine and if I hadn’t, I’d have sounded like your clone. II usually don’t read or look at other people’s stuff before responding to a challenge because I’m afraid it will alter my response, but sometimes, curiosity gets the better of me. And sometimes, it gives me ideas on how to handle it. I tend to be a bit too literal when interpreting prompts and challenges.

In commenting, I try to go beyond “Great pictures,” because you get that all the time. I figure if I have something to say that’s catchier, you might enjoy a comment that is different. If I have nothing to say except “great shots,” I usually just click “like” and sign off. Your pictures are ALWAYS great. Hopefully, you know that.

  2. Breakfast? At Tiffany’s. Sorry, I just watched it again the other night. I’m still in love with Audrey’s Holly Go-lightly. No, I don’t have 50 dollars for the powder room. Not anymore.

  3. I eat dinner every night over my laptop. My five and a half year old laptop. I don’t know what it’s more full of…. crumbs or cat hair. It’s definitely a tad funky…

    • I couldn’t afford to let this laptop get all yucky with food and other crap, so when the “sealed keyboard” option was available, I knew ME and I took it. Some of us just know we are GOING to eat at the computer. I think most of us do, even if we don’t want to admit it. You could try cleaning it. Carefully.

  4. I too, finally got a sealed keyboard, I was afraid of what was living inside all those nooks and crannies! And so with you on the meaning of life being “it is what it is” !! 😀

    • We are bad bad bad for eating at the computer … but we aren’t going to stop. I’ve already killed so many keyboards. I figured this time. I could bow to reality and deal with it. It didn’t even cost that much extra and will extend the life of the computer considerably, or so I fondly believe. And now, to the coffee and cookies!

  5. Camera would be my bet too. The next best thing would be to spend on travel. I love exploring the unexplored. Your cozy corner is ideal to enjoy breakfast. 🙂

  6. A sealed keyboard – now that’s something I need!

    • It is something everyone needs. If it isn’t food in the keyboard, it’s dust and crud from the air. Or, in my house, dog hair, pollen, and dirt from the woods brought in by feet and dogs. ALL keyboards should be sealed. All electronic stuff should be water-proof and sealed against dust and dirt.

I finally found a nice sealed keyboard for my desktop. It’s even washable. It was harder to find one on a laptop. Worth it, though.
