Walls support us, surround us. Define us. Define the spaces in which we live, work, play, pray.
This wall belongs to a now abandoned church in the middle of town. It has been patiently waiting for years for someone to love it and make it theirs.
For sale or rent.

At least you will always know what the time is. Great photos.

I don’t know if it’s working anymore. It used to work.

It would be a shame to let it deteriorate. I love the feeling of very old buildings, especially to sit within one and imagine all the past goings on. Lovely interpretation for the challenge! 😀

It’s a lovely old church. But it’s been empty too long. And it doesn’t have heat. None. I’m not even sure it has a toilet. It needs a LOT of restoration. They can’t knock it down, it’s protected, but it can fall down and might if someone doesn’t help. It’s really beautiful with all the carvings and stained glass.

I guess even old buildings can reach a point of no return, like our bodies. Sounds like it would nearly take an entire rebuild which probably wouldn’t be financially rewarding. Sad though.

I think the amount of money it would cost to rehabilitate it exceeds the cost of erecting a new building. I can’t imagine the town common without the church. I keep hoping someone will take it on, even if not as a church.

Or, someone could start a fund raising drive to pay for restoration. Small contributions from lots of people could do the trick. I too, love these old buildings

It’s a good idea, if the town weren’t so small and the population so not wealthy. There was a time when the town was doing a lot better, when Rotary might have taken it on as a cause. But Rotary is almost defunct and there’s so much unemployment, so many business barely hanging on. Not likely, but not for lack of caring. Just lack of money.

Those walls are part of our heritage I hope someone does come to its rescue.

It’s been about 4 years … maybe 5 … and I can’t help but wonder how badly time has hurt it. It really is a beautiful building. Classic.

Which, in case we win big on the lottery (not to self: buy a ticket), we might yet see.
