DRIVING THROUGH THE RAIN

Cee’s Which Way Photo Challenge: 2015 Week #14

It’s raining again. It has been raining for more than a week and will continue to rain for a few days more. Actually, to be entirely accurate, it’s a mixture of sleet, hail, and rain. Nasty.

This make it a perfect time to post pictures of driving in rain. I might mention, at this point, that both my husband and I very much dislike driving in rain and I’m afraid to drive in snow.

If you use headlights, they reflect back and you can’t see anything. But of course, if you don’t turn on your lights, no one can see you coming. Also dangerous.

  1. If you lived where Doobster418 and I do, you wouldn’t be so mean to the rain.

  2. Great photos. We have a lot of rain here at the moment. About time though. I hate driving in rain and snow. So many things to concentrate on.

  3. We have heavy rains and thunderstorms since 2 days. We lost electricity yesterday and so far we are back to normal, it’s pouring outside. It makes me tired, I just want to crawl up with a good book.

    • Went to lunch with an old friend yesterday. On way to restaurant, it was mid 30’s, windy and “modest” rain.
2 hours later, driving home, I had the front and rear wipers on (plus headlights on – (mandatory now with fines and or jail time if you forget), heavy rain, high winds, and sleet. Yes, I know it’s better than snow but still not very pleasant. On the bright side: Lunch with my old friend was very enjoyable.

  6. About a year after I bought my car, it developed a problem where the idle would suddenly kick into high gear and get stuck there. Turned out, the rain kept shorting out a wire in my car’s computer. I would imagine that’s not a problem Henry T. Ford ever envisioned with the automobile…

  8. Your pictures capture the nastiness of driving in a cold rain well. Up here in NH we got a half an inch of sleet, ice pellets and freezing rain last night….

  9. Great shots. I hate driving in the rain as I can’t see a damned thing. Yet driving in snow doesn’t bother me. Go figure, it must be a Canadian thing!

  10. Good job of getting out your camera and capturing these. The Pacific Northwest has very strange weather compared to anywhere else that I’ve lived in the United States. Thunderstorms and tornadoes are very rare but when severe storms do happen there’s usually hail involved. I’ve been in such hailstorms in the middle of July. 😦

  17. I wish there was a way for you to take some of that rain you’re having and send it our way here in California. We are experiencing a severe and historic drought and are desperate for some soaking rains. You’ve got pull, right? See what you can do.
