ODD BALL PHOTO CHALLENGE – WEEK 15

Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge: Week 15

The last snow, in the parking lot by the river

The last snow, in the parking lot by the river

The weather has finally turned nice. Really lovely. It was shirtsleeve weather today. Our gardens aren’t blooming yet, but we were able to plant our little live Christmas trees today.

It was bright, warm, and lovely. We went to the nearest park. It turned out, so did everyone else.

We took a few pictures. I didn’t think I was taking that many pictures until I came home and downloaded them, realized I had taken a few hundred shots. Garry took a couple of hundred more.

I guess we aren’t the only ones with cabin fever. People were fishing, canoeing, kayaking. Chasing their dogs around and laughing. It was a most convivial crowd and the first warm, sunny Sunday since the snow melted.

  1. Marilyn, I know how happy you were to see the last of the snow for this year!! I’ve also found myself at home with many more pictures than I’d thought I’d taken. When I first got my phone, I was at the park one day and the phone refused to take any more photos. I’d filled it and had to get rid of all the photos once I’d saved the last batch. 🙂

    • I guess we get carried away, eh? Garry took a couple of hundred pictures too … and we were only there for an hour and half. If we stayed another half hour, I can’t even imagine how many pictures there would have been. I used three different cameras, too!!

  2. Great photos. We are now having a blast of winter. The South Island is covered in snow and we have dropped at least 10 degrees celsius in a few hours. At least the sun is out for us compared to the heavy rain yesterday. I look forward to seeing your first spring blooms

    • So you get snow in New Zeland? I’m always interested in who gets snow and who doesn’t. It’s not just latitude and longitude. It’s also altitude, prevailing winds, and ocean currents.

      • The south Island is close to the Antarctic and gets a lot of storms from the polar cap. I was down there as a child at Christmas time – in the middle of our summer and it snowed. My father was ill and we were camping in tents and summer clothing. Not an experience to fondly remember.

        • Like most people from the northern hemisphere, I’m a bit hazy on the geography of the southern part of our planet. That makes sense since being near the north pole pretty much guarantees some pretty cold weather too, though the south pole is MUCH colder, or at least that’s what I’ve read — having never been anywhere near either pole. Tents and summer clothes in a snow storm sound kind of horrible. Glad you are still around to remember it!!

  3. It was nice to get out, be out in NICE weather. I actually could’ve taken off my jacket. It was also terrific to see people out and about just enjoying themselves. Is this real?
