I am a poor, wayfaring stranger.
Traveling through this land of woe.
Winter weary, we wander. Why does cold linger? What to do?
We were going north, but wonder now if that’s wise. If, when we wend our way so high into those mountains, will winter still linger there?
Watching out my window. I’m waiting for the world to renew itself. And me.
Will you bring me sunshine? If you do, I too will bloom. Yesterday, I noticed the Columbine shoots, dozens of shafts that herald tall lilies. Tulips by the score. Solomon’s seal almost ready. It too needs just a little encouragement. One sunny day is all we need. The roses have gone wild and will need cutting back.
What have we here? Another gray day. More coffee, I think.
Waiting is. I will work on my garden later, if the rain holds off. The flowers grow undaunted. They have hardier souls than me.

I love your glass ornament. We are having lovely weather – just cold though. I can’t light our woodburner until it is fixed on Wednesday. So extra blankets and a hot water bottle are the order of the day. Or a heater for a couple of hours.

I love stained glass. I had more of it, but some stuff has gotten broken over the years. It IS glass. Actually, I love glass and I have quite a lot of it. Modern and antique. Lamps and ornaments. I admire the people who work with glass. I find it very impressive.
Our wood-burning stove can’t be used because the insert in the chimney needs to be repaired. All the smoke blows right back into the room!

That is what happened to me. If I had some meat I could have smoked it. The guy came and cleaned the chimney and in the process broke the damper so that the flames were killed when I shut the door. Roll on Wednesday as it definitely colder now.

Wood stoves are more sensitive than most people realize. Ours has never worked the way it should. And it has two modes: off and hot enough to melt steel.

Interesting. Just waiting to see what happens and whether it is a good burner. Our woodburners here have to be replaced every 15 years – it is the law. Just to make sure that they are safe. I think that this one is nearing the end of it’s working life. Not my problem – the landlords

Ours is an old one that we installed about 10 years ago, but it was at least 10 years old when we installed it. It’s simple so there’s little to go wrong. It’s the chimney that’s a mess.

I’d love to. But flapping my arms doesn’t get me as far as it used to.

I have at least 6 of Ms Krauss albums. Few people realize all the awards she has won throughout her career, more than any other artist. I discovered her from the “O Brother Where Art Thou” Grammy winning album.

I have the movie, the concert DVD and the CD. I sort of love it.

Me too. I thought George Clooney deserved an academy award for his performance.

I would agree if he had done his own singing, which he didn’t. Dubbing gets points off. But the movie didn’t get the attention it deserved. A lot of people loved it, but it was ignored by the Academy, the Golden Globe, etc. Probably not “artistic” enough. Have I mentioned that I loathe artsy movies? I do. Artsy books, too. Hate’em.

Artsy, fartsy! George Clooney is my favorite contemporary actor. I don’t know many others.

We are very out of touch. I think we are also rather uninterested.

I think we have EARNED some nice weather. It’s just been a horrible half a year. Really, enough.

Wish you warmer days and we want you to watch the sun and feel the wind. Why cats ? Why not pup hangers? We would not mind another wonderful song.

I bought that piece of glass almost 20 years ago. I have wolves and a cat. I don’t remember where I bought them, but I think it was somewhere in Canada.

I am so much in love with your home surroundings. Looks like you folks live in a heaven with lots of greenery and tall trees around. Oh yes, the bridge and well also adds to the charm.

We live in a climate where it ranges from horrible to wonderful, sometimes in a couple of days. So yes, it can be quite idyllic. It can also be absolutely horrible. Depend on the day and the season!!

I finally planted my vegetable and herb garden for this year and I am excited to get started. It’s cold today and rainy, so no yard work today. Isn’t spring beautiful?

I ordered a new pair of pruning shears and some basic garden implements. And gloves because the dead roses are like barbed wire. Now, we just need a bit of nicer weather.

It was very briefly warm enough today to take off the heavy sweatshirt. But then I had to put it on again. Not THAT warm.

Wishful thinking, no. Wanting warmth after the Winter cold, Wanting waves of sunshine winging their way to where you are. Wanting won of those feline glass window ornaments for my window. Where can I get one? Well I tried to wander into the “W’s” of writing, but I love that glass feline window hanger.

I don’t remember where I got that piece. I think I bought it in Canada on some vacation many years ago. We bought two, the wolves and the cat and they have been hanging on my windows since we lived in Boston … that would be more than 15 years ago. They are stained glass. You find this stuff at craft fairs, usually. Maybe you’ll get lucky?? You can also check online. These days, EVERYTHING is available via Amazon … or someplace like it.
