It’s a pretty river. Small compared to the Blackstone — which itself is not a giant. But this is an elegant little river, curving prettily through woods and miniature beaches where people picnic, fish, and sometimes bathe.
Not this day, though. It was too chilly for any kind of outside getting wet. Maybe next week.

The whole western half of Massachusetts is lovely, EVEN in the snow. Which is fortunate because winter can be long. Fall and spring are not nearly long enough 🙂

We are having our coldest weather so far – snow in both islands. Wet and miserable where I live. So our bright and colourful autumn is officially over.

You have my heartfelt sympathies. Remember, spring WILL come. It will.

This is only just the beginning. It is even snowing in Napier – it NEVER snows there.

The weather has been very weird pretty much everywhere. Warmer here, colder there, more snow than we ever imagined possible, no snow at all. Drought, floods. Everything.

Rivers are great until you buy a house near one and everyone and their uncle feels the need to remind you that you’re in the 100 year floodplain. >_< Your pictures, as always, are lovely.

Thank you. Yes, so we discovered about the flooding somewhat after we bought the house. We don’t flood as often as we used to, not since we built the drains, the sump, the pump …

It would have been interesting had you come across any of those bathers. “Don’t mind me, folks! Just taking a few pictures for my blog! Would you mind covering that up for a few seconds, sir?”

One of them offered to take off her top for my husband. Not once, but even after he said “no thanks” several times. Her friends (beer?) seemed to think it was a splendid idea. Really. It happened. He’s 73, so this was a moment of zen or something else.

Hey, my age has nothing to do with it. Trust me!

She probably should have been introduced up close and personal to the river. That would have sobered her up. 6_&

I suspect her and all her friends needed a hint of cold water. It was a beery day. The holiday started early.

We have many rivers and many valleys. A lot of little rivers like that one have no name, or at least none anyone is aware of.
