I’M BACK, YOU’RE BACK

While I wasn’t looking, WordPress turned off about half the blogs I follow. I had reduced the frequency of notifications from instant to daily, but I guess WordPress was feeling helpful, so they further reduced it to nothing at all.

I thought maybe everyone was on vacation or had given up blogging. At the same time.

So I’m back and so are you. Just so you know.

EVENING APPROACHES – VERMONT

Long shadows across the grass. Evening is beginning earlier and it seems very sudden. The leaves are mostly not changing yet up here.

Color will come late this year. Hard to know how Autumn will be. So many factors. We need just the right amount of rain and a cold snap with chilly night and cool days.

The last two fall seasons were glorious, but before then, we had a series of washouts with lots of hurricanes coming up the coast and dropping tons of rain and blowing the leaves right off the trees.

We’ve been on the road for 10 days, much of it spent in the car and I’m pretty tired of roads. Garry’s pretty tired of driving on them.

I don’t think I want to do that much car touring again. Time to think about different ways to vacation.

We are always so grateful to return home, that it makes us wonder whether we should bother to go away … and then we remember the great conversations, shared memories, and laughter. The beauty of other places, the joy of reuniting with old friends and realize, yes, it’s worth it. It will always be worth it.
