A PHOTO A WEEK CHALLENGE: WOOD
Not as interesting as some wood I’ve seen, but nonetheless, it’s definitely wood. In various forms. Another cool challenge from Nancy Merrill!

Love your wood! By the way, it’s interesting that I took some photos of some of our ‘wood’ this week: the living, the dead/firewood and some very interesting slices too. Have fun! 🙂

You don’t see old growth timber like that very often these days. I was trying to count rings and couldn’t, but that tree had to have been at least 100 years old. It somehow seems sad it winds up at the mill turning into lumber. Wood is always interesting to photograph.

Thanks, Cee. It was a huge tree originally, probably an old growth oak of which there are not very many remaining. We have a lot of young growth, but not much of the really big ones. I was impressed 🙂

I like that last shot. Reminds me of a scene from “Sometimes A Great Notion”.

That was the day I got the picture of the hawk flying over you at the buzzmill down on Hartford Avenue. It was a great day for wood 🙂
