LOVING AMAZON … AND THE BEATLES

Not so long ago, I bought a bunch of Beatles albums and one by John Prine. The day before yesterday, just in time for Christmas, I got this email:

Amazon-Music-clipular

And when I opened my Kindle last night, what to my wondering eyes should appear but three Beatles albums and the John Prine, ready for my listening pleasure. I didn’t even know I was entitled to the download. Golly.

So I decided to put them on this computer, too. I downloaded the Amazon App for music.

Quick as a wink, I created play lists … and realized I have thousands of album cuts and single songs in my library that I don’t remember acquiring. Obviously, I did. In my sleep maybe?

Merry Christmas to me! There are days … many days … when I really love Amazon.

  1. Amazon Music is great for “finding” music you didn’t realize you had. It saved a bunch of my music when my MP3 player was stolen (although not nearly all of it, unfortunately). Merry Christmas to you! 🙂

  3. Great – I grew up with the Beatles and still have the original first edition of the first LP. My oldest son followed the tradition and has all the recordings complete with a few special editions. They were unique. I am not into dowloading music, leave it up to Mr. Swiss who has a computer full of music, mostly jazz.

    • I always buy my music in some kind of hard format. CDs mostly, but having the downloads too is nice. I can play them on my Kindle.

The Beatles were the first pop music I really loved. I still love them. The albums disappeared decades ago, but the CDs are good too. I bet that album of yours is worth something! It’s a treasure.

  5. Amazon has changed its policies a couple of time in the past few years but as long as you buy your albums from them they will put them on their cloud in your library. I could play music from coast to coast and never hear the same song twice. LOL

  6. I keep finding weird stuff in my online Amazon music library for artists I don’t particularly like, then remember that I bought it as a present for someone years ago!

    • I have doubles and triples of some music. Music publishers keep producing new digitally remastered versions … so I have three different versions of many of these albums. I don’t know how many versions of classical stuff, by various pianists, orchestras, etc. Which is fine. Although the only problem with these digital libraries is that they get very big and it’s hard to find the versions you like. I wish I could get rid of some of the junk that’s just taking up space.
