SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2015 WEEK #52
Tell how you are feeling today in the form of a weather report. (For example, partly cloudy, sunny with a chance for showers, etc.)
Gray skies beginning to clear in late afternoon. Bright sunshine a definite possibility for the remainder of the week!
What is most memorable about your high school years?
Swimming. My school had an Olympic sized pool and every year, we got a questionnaire asking us if we could swim. I always said “no.” And always got assigned to swimming instead of gym.
I loved swimming and the teacher would look at me and say “you again?” Then she’d send me to the deep end so I wouldn’t get in the way of the beginners who were still trying to figure out how to float.
Have you ever owned a rock, pet rock, or gem that is not jewelry?
I have a little bowl of rocks on my headboard (which is also a bookcase).
It has some rose quartz, turquoise, obsidian, granite, some seashells. I also have a little book that tells me what the various vibrations of the stones are. I like having them there. They are very friendly.
But I also really love Navajo jewelry. AND we will be in Arizona next week. Oh boy.
Complete this sentence: I like watching… comedies.
I will watch almost anything that makes me laugh, though I’m not fond of physical comedy or anything where someone is humiliated. I like wit, word play, cleverness. I love parody and spoofs.
Mel Brooks and the Zucker Brothers. And the Marx Brothers, “Night at the Opera” is a favorite.
I know how to swim and was an Explorer co-ed Scout so I learned how to sail a boat. Living on Lake Erie helped. I love seashells, rocks and little pieces of beach glass smoothed and have a couple jars of these. 🙂 I love nature in all forms ! Happy new year and may it be a joyful one for you both. ♡♡

You saying you couldn’t swim, every year, made me chuckle. I enjoy parody and spoofs also. Enjoy your trip!

Okay, here goes.
Guess I’m feeling partly cloudy after round one with the dogs and their morning roundup.
High School: Not very memorable. I was one of a small handful of “those people” in a brand new Long Island High School.
Rocks: a few in my head. Too few to mention.
I like watching: old movies, especially westerns. But we’ve been watching a lot of the classic Astaire-Rogers films lately to remind me of my love of the old musicals. Of course, Mel Brooks and the gang are always welcome at this address. Too Jewish?

I like rocks and stones too. Interesting that you also like sea shells. As a kid I would walk along an old road in the country and pickup stones just because they looked pretty. Can’t resist looking for sea shells while walking along a beach either. Happy New Year to you both.

I used to have huge jars full of pretty shells. Useless, but lovely. Why not?

I would collect stones from my walks in the woods and store them in our garage. Every once in awhile they would disappear. (my father must have tossed them out) But I still have the shells. They are so beautiful.

I had a few really cool stones I picked up … quartz with lots of glittering mica in them. They were probably some kind of basalt or granite, but really pretty. Don’t know where they ended up. I’ve moved so much that many things just vanished.

I still have some quartz. One is a rather large one then there is this clump of quartz. My father used to make quartz crystals out of them when he had his business. This was after his radio days.

Oh I should answer this as well, I have some great memories to share. I loved swimming too, I was like a fish and they could never get me out of the water. We didn’t have a pool at the boarding school, so we had to drive to a boy’s school 🙂 Fun memories 🙂

Apparently girls willing to get their hair wet were few and far between … so I got to swim instead of whatever they were doing in class. Yay. Gym wasn’t my favorite anything!

Oh the jewels are exquisite. That’s from someone who isn’t a huge jewelry fan. Happy New Year in your world, Marilyn.

Thanks Evelyne 🙂 I sometimes just sit and look at the stones. I do love the stones 😉

My high school didn’t have a swimming pool…. or even a wading pool, so I never learned how to swim. In PE we were required to take both wrestling and dance… not at the same time, though that might’ve actually been more fun than either activity by itself…

Garry never learned to swim either. Perils of growing up in a city and without a pool in school. But I taught him to at least float and doggy paddle … at least enough so he could get out of trouble if he weren’t too far from shore.
