SHARING MY WORLD IN THE MIDDLE OF MARCH

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2016 WEEK 11

How many siblings do you have? What’s your birth order?

July 1963

July 1963

I had an older brother (four years my senior), but he died nine years ago. I will always miss him. I also have a younger sister with whom I’m not in touch. Which puts me smack dab in the middle where I always seem to wind up.

In a car would you rather drive or be a passenger?

Passenger, almost always.

I’m a pretty good co-pilot and navigator. And, as a passenger, we won’t go off a cliff if I fall asleep. We need a navigator since Garry and I have no sense of direction. Not that our GPS is much better.

When you lose electricity in a storm, do you light the candles or turn on the flashlight? How many of each do you own?

We grab a flashlight and use it to find matches so we can light the candles. At which time, the power usually goes back on.

Thing is, we have a lot of candles but since no one smokes, we often don’t have anything with which to light one. The electric stove is no help at all.

List at least five of your favorite types of animals?  Any animal, domestic, wild, marine, or anything else, is fine.

Well, I guess you’d have to say we like dogs. Horses. Cats. Birds.

DangerDogs

Wild and domestic, I like everyone with fur. I just don’t have enough room for all of the creatures I’d like to have as companions.

  1. 1. When you lose electricity in a storm, do you light the candles or turn on the flashlight? How many of each do you own?

Candles make me nervous because it’s been some time since we, as a society, regularly used candles. As a result I don’t think the hazards are quite forefront in our minds these days. I did however get suckered into purchasing a “Brooklyn Lantern” online. It is just OK and does a minimal job. Then I went to Costco and stumbled on an LED lantern by GE which is far better and will almost light up a whole room, it also takes a crap load of “D” size batteries and so should last a while during an outage. At least you can put it down while searching for matches with both hands 🙂

    2. How many siblings do you have? What’s your birth order?

Me and my remaining siblings, two younger sisters, are pretty close and we include my favorite niece as well. The rest of the family is kind of a mystery to me. Oh, and I have a brother in-law who has become a lump on the ass of humanity…

    3. In a car would you rather drive or be a passenger?

Drive of course.., but I now travel with a bottle, or two, of “5 hour Energy.” Needless to say trips are limited to 5 hours or less.

    4. List at least five of your favorite types of animals?

Dogs and cats are neck and neck. Other types like Lions, Bears, Orcas or anything confined to a cage or liquid filled bowl are, for obvious reasons outside of fantasy, just impractical. The word “wild” is the operative here, i.e. as a group they should stay that way…

    • Yes, I learned my lesson early. Wild creatures should remain wild. They are much better off and so are we.

I have very little family left anymore. With my brother gone, there’s just my cousin Roberta and I wonder if I’ll see her again in this lifetime. The herd’s getting pretty thin.

  4. You and me alike, don’t have the room for all the furry companions we desire. 😀

  5. I have an older brother and we are still quite close. If we want to get anywhere without killing someone, I do the driving, and dogs are awfully nice.
