Our local grocery stores are not bad, but there’s stuff they just don’t have. Thin Oreos — any flavor — are among the things they do not stock. So, this evening, in a fit of rampant self-indulgence, I went online. To Amazon, my one-stop online shopping choice.
And sure enough, Amazon has them in pretty much every flavor, including some I didn’t know existed. But. Either the price is outrageously over-the-top or they are available only through PrimePantry. Despite how I love Amazon (I really love Amazon), I don’t love their grocery subscription services. They won’t let me choose when they will deliver or when they will bill me. Moreover, I don’t necessarily need or want a crate of stuff.
Today, all I wanted were cookies.
After maybe an hour of increasing frustration, I ordered 35-pounds of senior (Diamond Naturals) dog food — plus an economy-sized box of Teenie Greenies. And no cookies.
As Garry pointed out, it’s important to know what’s really important. The fur kids approve. They barked their approval when I pressed “Place Your Order.”

Yes, but we were running low on dog food and in fairness, I don’t actually NEED cookies. Depending on what you define as need, of course.

What really drives me crazy about Amazon is when certain inexpensive items are “add-on” only…you can’t just outright buy the item, unless you have a certain amount in your cart. Has been a bummer many times!

Yeah, that’s another issue. But the PrimePantry really annoys me the most because they have it, but you can ONLY buy it as part of a huge order. Really aggravating to see just what you want, but you can’t actually buy it.

I buy coffee, olive oil, dog food. Bulk stuff and stuff I can’t get locally or is a lot cheaper on Amazon. But you need to know prices because they are not always cheaper. Sometimes, they are way too expensive and if you don’t know what the item should cost, you’re going to overpay.

It turns out, our local Walmart doesn’t have them, but Walmart.com does, so I ordered them … and a bunch of other things I would need to get anyway … and they will be delivered next week. I really hope they don’t come all crushed!

I know. It’s just we live in the country and selections aren’t like they are in more populated areas. Stuff I can’t get locally, I usually find online. But the prices for just a bag of cookies was between 7 and 10 dollars … for just a 10 oz bag … not even a BIG bag. Which is ridiculous. So, no cookies.

I’m a little wary of ordering any kind of food on Amazon. I once ordered white chocolate Kit-Kats because I could no longer find them in my local store (apparently they were a Halloween item only), so I found them on Amazon. They were a little pricy, and I was ok with that, but when they came in I realized why Amazon had them and no one else did – they had been stockpiled by someone and were past the pull date. I ate them anyway. Hope you have better luck than I did if you do, in fact, decide to order those cookies.
(Um, next time I go shopping here, I’ll see if I can find thin Oreos – if I do, I’ll let you know. It wouldn’t be too far to ship some to you.)

I still order coffee, ginger, and spices, plus dog food and biscuits. These are less money on Amazon and they deliver quickly, which saves Garry’s back. And they don’t require me to subscribe. Also, olive oil is cheaper on Amazon and often, better. But regular stuff? They have a really limited selection and it often arrives all broken, so I have more of less given up.
Our local cookie selection is pretty limp. Milanos. We can get Peppridge Farm stuff and Fig Newtons (and other newtons since they are “local”). Everything else? Good luck. In Boston, where we used to live, you can get EVERYTHING.

I’ve never heard of thin Oreos. But they sound like they could become addictive. We can’t keep anything sweet in the house as my wife has no will power.

The mint thin oreos are seriously addictive. Kind of like the Girl Scouts thin mints. But maybe better 🙂

Oreos on Amazon? Well I never. I can get basic Oreos at local supermarket. Chocolate, strawberries and vanilla

I can get the regular ones too. I love the thin ones. More cookies, less gooey stuff.

I have never seen an oreo cookie. Something we do not seem to have in Switzerland. Our shops are within 5-10 minutes driving and have quite a good selection of biscuits. I used to make them myself, but those days have been replaced by a computer. I have ordered some stuff now and again from Amazon, but mainly use it for uploading my books to my Kindle.

You probably have your own kinds of cookies and sweets. Oreos are chocolate sandwich cookies, though now they come in vanilla and a lot of other flavors too. Just not around here. We are in a cookie dead zone.
