FUCHSIAS IN THE YEAR OF THE GYPSY MOTH

They aren’t doing as well this year as in previous years, probably because they are getting too much sun what with the leaves missing from the trees.

  2. I couldn’t bring myself to hit ‘like’ on this because some part of nature, even a potted plant, should give you a break this year. πŸ™‚ I had two shade gardens until two old trees had to come down. Time to replant for the sun. Not fun.

    • Depending on events to come, we may move from fuchsia to begonia on the deck. Or geranium which can stand ANYTHING. Without the shade, fuchsias are not happy. Finally, after all these years, I cam grow them … and now this.

      Talk about cruel fate!!

  3. But that is quite a fuschia bush you have there. Ours do not spread so much. At least they are still alive. I don’t think they like so much direct sunlight. In England they grow quite well and you can even keep them alive during the winter months.

    • Fuchsias are persnickitty about light and temperature — and water. They need a LOT OF WATER. Every day, sometimes twice a day. It’s been sunnier and hotter than usual here, so they aren’t doing as well as they should. Not so many flowers and they are withering quickly. Next year, hopefully, it will be back to normal. I sure hope so!!!!
