Gibbs has been with us for four months now and finally, he has decided to join the family. He’s still very wary of strangers. We don’t have much company. That no doubt makes the problem more difficult. Still, he’s doing pretty well.

Gibbs will look even more handsome soon, because Wednesday is grooming day!

He (by the way) shows a gratifying willingness to sit still while I take his picture. This is something I cannot convince Bonnie to do.

  1. I miss Bonnie for sure. Gibbs didn’t take a like to me because I was the creature that lived downstairs. I’m sure he will be a more handsome pooch after Wednesday’s hairdo. 🙂

  2. It takes time to adjust, but he looks very photogenic!

  3. Yes he does look like he needs a little trim.

  4. He looks like Morrie before his summer haircut. Now it’s Gibbs’s turn!!!

    • Gibbs looks like he needs a haircut. BONNIE looks like a pile of dirty black rags. Gibbs still has a shape 🙂 An ungroomed, overgrown Scottie is pretty funny looking.

    • Judy, you should see Gibbs and Bonnie together. I put them up on the love seat between Marilyn and me. Two hands go to work, petting the Scotties. I love it!!

        • I can try. The light in the LR isn’t very good and all kidding aside, it’s really hard to get pictures of black dogs in a none-too-bright room. Since tomorrow in grooming day, it’s the perfect time to try. Maybe we can take them out on the deck and I can shoot in daylight. They ARE awfully cute. This will be Gibbs first grooming experience with us, but I’m betting he has done this before we got him many times. He was in pretty good clip when we got him.

          • Wouldn’t it be fun to see them all together? Damn, if we hadn’t been so correct in getting them neutered, we could be grandmothers together!

            • I had a good little bitch on a breeding contract which meant I would give the original breeders a pick of the litter pup as payment for her. In the end, I chose to not breed. I’m not knowledgeable enough to breed and I know too many people — professionals — who have lost a beloved pet because something went wrong. They knew what they were doing, unlike me, who knows nothing. And I know I know nothing. Even with all the improvements in vet care, things go wrong. Sometimes terribly wrong. So tempting though it might have been, I passed on it. The entire idea made me go cold with dread. But on the other hand, Scottie pups are SOOOOO cute. I mean SUPER DUPER OMIGOD cute. We got Bonnie when she was really tiny and she was just … well … a real heart-breaker 🙂

  5. That’s great that he’ll pose for you — but in the second shot that’s a pretty evil eye (or is it concern?) he’s giving you

  6. I’m glad he’s fitting into your little family 🙂

  7. something you mentioned earlier about his energy level and your vet’s comments about the wear on his teeth–could he actually be younger than the nine you were told?

However old he is, he’s a sweetie. Always liked Scotties, and for my mother in law and mother both, they were the dog of choice, hands down.

    • I wonder about that … but there’s no way to know. He looks younger than his years. A lot younger. With a rescue, you really can’t be sure of much because they swap pedigrees and make stuff up. Gibbs is my third Scottie. I think they are wonderful dogs. Smart, funny, stubborn, adorable.

  8. He is probably only posing for the photo so that you can blog his “before” and “after” photos after the visit to the groomer.
