“So let them eat cake,” Marie said, merriment dancing in her eyes.
The peasants found her statement revolting. After all, they had no cake. Nor eggs, flour, sugar, or any of those cute little plastic cake decorations.
Instead, they made Marie eat her words. Alas, but they were not a tasty treat.
I thought everyone had a supply of cute plastic cake decorations.

THAT was Marie’s big mistake. If she’s said “let them eat cake,” and supplied lots of little plastic cake decorations, there would never have been a French Revolution. Or, as Richard III said: “My Kingdom for a plastic cake decoration.”

Pardon me while I step out and groan at all the word puns here. 😉 Clever, very clever.

Thank you for noticing! Geez, here I am trying so hard to be clever and no one notice my wit. You just made my day 🙂

It was a big moment. But lest we forget, England executed one king and one queen. We don’t execute. We assassinate and humiliate.

Yes England did it too.

Poor choice of words is right! Now, if she had said, “Let them eat cookies,” I could have understood. 🙂

My bad. Seems I’m feeling a bit frivolous today.

A good cookie is NOT frivolous. It might have saved her head. Well, maybe.

What a pleasant way to start the morning, losing one’s head over a poor choice of words.

These young kids might not even know what a guillotine is!

Poor choice of words. She couldn’t turn her life around.

No, sadly, she could not turn around at all. She totally lost her head, poor woman.
