Garry likes the ledge. I do not like the edge or the ledge. Especially I don’t like Garry being close to the edge of the ledge. Makes me nervous. It does not make him nervous, which is part of the reason it worries me.
I have to be nervous for both of us. Which means I either have to worry twice as hard, or if I’m in a hurry, twice as fast.
But sometimes, I have to approach the edge, if I want to get the picture.

I’m an edge worrier as well but success here! Lovely photos!!

It’s often the best place to get the shot … but I wonder how many photographers have died trying for that perfect shot? I plan to NOT be one of them 🙂

This post reminds me of a famous local photo…
That’s a photo of a very, VERY brave photographer peering over the top of the Gateway Arch to take a picture. The Arch is 630 feet tall and I hear the winds up there can be a little unpredictable. Not sure if even Garry would be up to that task (I would personally pass out, and hopefully not forward)….

You couldn’t pay me enough. Garry, when younger, maybe. If there was a story in it. Maybe.

I don’t like heights either but that was quite the picture he got.

Actually, that particular one was mine, but Garry’s look almost identical. It’s actually a great place to shoot because you are out over the water … but it really does make my very anxious, all kidding aside. I was once sure-footed, but not any more.

I would have been uncomfortable out there. Still a lovely photo.

I could not look over the edge of the ledge!

I am always afraid I’ll get dizzy and fall, so I rarely look down unless there’s a good, sturdy barrier or fence to keep me safe. I don’t trust myself on the edge.

If you meet a spider on a ledge serendipity will not ensue! Naturally my post is very serendipitous… and proves there is unintelligent life on earth!

I think some of that unintelligent life is running the world.

Thank you. We have a very pretty town with that dam right in the middle 🙂

That is a perfect place for the perfect photos, although I do not think I could manage it and would probably get giddy. That is my biggest regret with my movement problems, but even that can be overcome. I love the angle on the last photo

That picture was the ONLY time I’ve gotten even close to the edge in a long time. I get dizzy when I look over an edge and I always have. But it’s worse now because I’m so clumsy and slow-moving. Garry is much more spry and in far better shape than I am. He was never athletic, per se, but he has always kept himself in great shape and he isn’t afflicted by serious other diseases. Just normal aging, wear & tear.

Sounds like a second Mr. Swiss and you sound like a second Mrs. Angloswiss, although we probably have our own variations.

Yes, but there are a LOT of parallels. I keep being amused and surprised at exactly HOW many similarities we have in our lives. At least we understand each other!

I’m with you. I’d be nervous too. I don’t like to watch people climb or perch in places I would be too scared to go.

I think watching someone else — like Garry — is more nerve-wracking than trying to do it myself! I’m such a chronic worrier.

Teehee!! But I wouldn’t worry much about that ledge — it looks big enough to support a photographer!

A photographer who is steady on his feet. Which he is and I am not. I’m basically afraid of heights. Not as much as I’m afraid of spiders, though. But — what if I meet a spider on the ledge? Tragedy, that’s what!

What an imagination!!! I have to admit that I’m afraid of edges, particularly if there might be a possibility of falling off or of the edge crumbling.

Both possible. It’s a 120 year old dam. I’ve never seen anyone do any maintenance on it in the 17 years we’ve lived here.

I like the challenge of some photo opportunities. I’m confident of my physical abilities at this stage in life but not over confident or stupid.
Sometimes getting up from awkward positions makes me question the previous statement.

Down is so easy. Gravity is on your side. It’s the other direction that is the problem 🙂

I think the ledge is actually there so that workman can reach the dam’s controls. I’m pretty sure it’s there exactly for people to walk on. But it is old. And so are we.
