A Photo a Week Challenge: Sunrise
Sunrise. There are inevitably more people up and about than you might expect, especially along the water. In harbors, the fishing boats are setting sail and there are always individual and couple on the beach. The birds are having breakfast, of course. As are the mosquitoes … except that for the mosquitoes, you are breakfast.

These are my three favorites, but sunrises can be amazing … and the process lasts much longer than sunset, at least in these latitudes. From first light to the sun fully risen it is almost an hour, which means there’s a lot of shooting to do. Sunset around here is much faster … about 20 minutes on a good day 🙂 Even a degree or two of difference in latitude changes it. Vermont’s sunrise is much longer than southern New England. Arizona was fast, but sunset lasted long. I’m sure there’s a scientific explanation … I just don’t know what it is.

Thanks Nancy. It was made possible by accepting chromatic aberration as an unavoidable part of shooting into the sun 🙂

These days, about the only thing that gets me up early is a sunrise. As a retiree, I reserve the right to sleep in. There’s got to be some upside to getting old 😀

I especially like the Rockport Harbor photo…

Rockport Harbor is one of the most photographed places in the country. You just can’t take a bad picture of it. It’s perfect. Except for having the biggest, meanest mosquitoes I’ve ever encountered 🙂

Yes, it can be most rewarding getting up early. 🙂 Great capture!
