OCTOBER AROUND MY TOWN
Living in a small town, when the nearest “real” city is 70 miles away, you find yourself taking many pictures of “local” because that’s what there is to photograph.
What luck that our local is also highly photogenic.
Long before we moved to the Blackstone Valley, we used to drive up here to see the leaves and buy the biggest pumpkin we could find.
This is October in the neighborhood.

We just came back in after shooting a LOT of frames by the river. Now, all the tress are lit up. I think we are probably very close to peak right now, but we get at least one more good week before the trees starts to go bare. I hope. Barring a storm, of course 🙂

Beautiful images. We have to go up north in Michigan to see the colors in October.

I guess different places are on their own schedules. I thought it was all about latitude, but apparently, it isn’t quite that simple 🙂

It’s a good time to be alive and outside. We’ve got a few more weeks of it to go. Sometimes, we get an extended seasons. I’m hoping this will be one of them.

I am not a fan of the coldness, but I do love the colorful creations at this time of the year.

It seems you can’t get the pretty part without the cold stuff. The longer Autumn hangs around the happier I am 🙂

You sound like my sister. She loves the cold and everything that comes with it. 😊

You misunderstand me. If we were to skip winter entirely, I would be JUST FINE. Snow is pretty, but living in a heavy snow zone, especially when you are past the age when you can shovel snow, is no fun at all.

Oh yeah that does not sound like fun for anyone.

Thanks. I actually took my better camera, so most of these I didn’t have to do much except reduce the size and sign them. They looked just as they do, right off the SD cards.

And that means that the trees themselves must be spectacular this year — worth the wait!

They have been slow getting started, but now that they are changing, they are great. And there’s a couple of more weeks to come.

Autumn has so beautiful colours, too sad it doesn’t last long and the leaves fall to the ground. Nice pictures Marilyn!

I am still voting for a 12-month autumn!

Beautiful photos, Marilyn. Our leaves are just starting to change. I hope to get out into the countryside soon to get some Fall pictures. (or maybe I’ll get lucky and the trees in my own backyard will change soon)

This is almost exactly the same time they changed here last year. In New York, just a degree and a half of latitude lower, the leaves change about a week sooner, though weather makes a difference. I think montreal is just beginning to change, too. Lots of thing affect it, though. Proximity to water. The leaves are MUCH more colorful along the rivers than elsewhere. High ground vs. low ground. And the type of tree. The maples are the first really bright ones, but also the first to lose their leaves and become bare. Our oaks don’t have full leaves this year, so I doubt they’ll do much of anything. I’m just glad they didn’t all die.
