A Photo a Week Challenge: Texture

A flash of red in the corner of my eye. I grab the snapshot of fresh snow with a scarlet wing in the forsythia hedge. The cardinal is back. There are so many different textures in this little area … and it was barely past dawn.

Thanks, Nancy. I’m grateful to the bird for stopping long enough for me to focus and shoot 🙂 Yes, it is an encapsulation of the season sort of 🙂

I love cardinals. We have Stellars Jays here, I can’t remember seeing any Cardinals. They stand out in a crowd, snicker snicker

They especially stand out in winter against the white background. My eyes aren’t great, but just a flash as they fly by alerts me … and I can usually find them even when they are half hidden in the brush.

Dawn is breakfast time for the birdies. If I’m not absolutely committed to getting another few hours of sleep, that’s when I can almost always catch them. Sometimes, sleep wins, but not always 🙂

Thank you. About 6:30 in the morning … that lovely first light after sunrise. My favorite light of the day.
