Not a robin, but Fred the Lawn Flamingo. Leaning forward but otherwise unaffected by the cruel weather.
The North Wind Doth Blow
Nursery Rhyme
The north wind doth blow,
And we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then?
Poor thing.
He’ll sit in a barn,
And keep himself warm,
And hide his head under his wing,
Poor thing.
Sparse traffic late on a snowy Saturday afternoon
Welcome, but beware of fierce terriers who are noticeably absent. They prefer being inside where it’s warm and dry. They have a point.
Only two mailboxes. There were three. One was probably knocked down by the plow and is buried under the snow.
Our house from the road through the trees and snow
The old tractor and the house … and the snow season has only just begun.

We continue to avoid the snow this year. We don’t really miss it.

Obviously you sent it HERE because it hasn’t stopped since Wednesday and isn’t stopping probably until Tuesday. And that will be a mere intermission.

our most recent (and reasonably strange) forecast is predicting 1 foot of snow everywhere: however, only Strafford County and Rockingham County are going to get true blizzard conditions. We live in Strafford County, less than three miles from Belknap County, which will be getting the snow but not the blizzard.
how do the weather elves determine this? Has anyone notified Belknap County? If they do get the blizzard conditions, can they complain to the weather gods for compensation?
I feel kinda sorry for the missing mailbox. Let’s hope there was no mail in it. We’re considering having a winter mailbox (the old rusted what-the-hell kind) and a summer box, all shiny and new…at least until the baseball batallion finds it…

I don’t use national services. I mostly use Wunderground which is like “the people’s weather service.” Lots of small weather stations in peoples’ backyards, so you get a very localized weather report that usually has something to do with the reality in which you live. Around here, the national services lump us in with “worcester county,” but south central valley is more like Providence than Worcester … and not infrequently, we have a wholly different pattern. I think the national service use hedgehogs because there’s no union contract involved. It would, you must admit, explain a lot.
As for mailboxes, the one that’s leaning dangerously to the left is ours. It’s rubbermaid, so they whack it and it bounces and we put it back. You don’t cement the post in place because when it gets hit by the plows (and it will get hit, if not by plows, then by trash collectors) cemented down brackets break. These, you just stand them (more or less) back up.
Rubbermaid. A good investment.

Judy, I tried whacking the buried garbage can (ignored by the sanitation guys) with a shovel. It was deader than 45’s popular vote count.
It’s snowing again. I’ll have to clean a new path for the Scotties.
As for the baseball batallion, they are Free Agents and not touching anything til they sign new contracts.

oh poor Fred- so much snow.We dodged the bullet with the snow up until now, but February seems to be making up for it. Here we’ve got freezing rain

Fred isn’t complaining. He knows spring will come. We may get freezing rain, too, but right now, snowing. Kinda hard.

Daily, I literally took the fall while shooting Freddie, “The Snitch” Flamingo. I tried to get up 3or 4 times while protecting the camera. I felt like Sean “the weasel” Spicer, unable to move. Finally, on the 5th attempt, I rose like one of 45’s henchmen, very wobbily on my feet.
