GARRY ARMSTRONG’S EARLY SPRINGTIME

And so, with the sun bright in the sky, I took the camera and went out. I wanted a haircut. The car needed a shampoo. And, we needed some cold cuts for lunch.

Mumford River and dam – middle of town

No leaves on the trees, but you can see the hint of them in the fuzzy pink color of the branches. Another two to three weeks before the flowers get serious about blooming. In the meantime, this is early spring in the center of the Blackstone Valley.

  1. I did notice the forsythia blooming in one of those photos, always the showoff, and I admire anyone who can get a full bush to bloom at once. It always blooms just about the time you need it most.

    • Our forsythia is so overgrown, it only blooms at the top. I used to trim it, but i was sick and now, they are huge — the hugest forsythia I’ve ever seen. They don’t bloom with the enthusiasm of more trimmed bushes, but they bloom and you are right. By the time they show up, we really NEED them.

  2. I love this time of year. You can feel the rebirth of activity in the town. The grass is green and the flowers for sale are out. I bought a new rose bush and I’m planning to plant some sprouted potatoes today. I also have to bake a Sacher Torte and Lemon Meringue pie for Easter Dinner.

  3. Lovely photos garry – looks like a world and half a lifetime away from the troubles we have to face today.

Just heard Chump is planning on going for the Big Home Run with his third strike of the week…

… he’s already p’d off Russia and Syria with one strike, ISIS and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan with his second and now wants to do the same to China and N Korea. I have a horrible feeling he’s biting off much more than he knows how to chew, and the world is going to be the one who ends up paying for it 😦

Is that what he meant when he said he’d make America great again – a great big, brief, blinding flash??

    love.

  5. So, you’re not gonna show us the haircut, Garry??? I got a haircut this week as well, but i’m not showing it. Needs to grow out a bit. I had at least six inches cut off. I’m scalped.
