That’s right! It’s the quarterly cleaning up of the grubby Scotties. For a few glorious days, they are silky, soft, and they smell good. Probably less this time because it has been raining all day today and it’s supposed to pour throughout the weekend. It seems a bit unfair that we can’t have at least one long weekend of clean dogs, but the weather just is.
After all the years of drought, this is great for the aquifer. It just makes for a pretty dreary spring.

Enjoy their silkiness while you can. If they’re anything like my Harry they’ll be running around and smelly in no time at all 😏

We are trying, but it’s raining and there is mud out there. Oh well. At least the fur is short and not already matted.

And they smell nice. Not for long, but for a while, anyway.

That’s a bonus…. chuckle.

It apparently isn’t going to rain until tonight, so we have only medium mud until then. Yay dogs!

Gorgeous ‘clean’ dogs but if anything like mine they will soon find some mud to roll in! x

They already have!

They do look nice though. Do they always get a new bandana when they go?

The bandana is part of the heart-stopping price! We love the clean dogs. They are not so happy about it and are rapidly working on “fixing” the problem.

Nothing so nice as a well washed dog 🙂

A human view, not necessarily shared by that of the dog! 😉

Absolutely. They really HATE the smell of “perfume” and what we think of as “good smells.” They like dirt and rotting dead things.

And often ending up in the human having an unexpected bath in the process 🙂

Perhaps one of the reasons I stick to a cat. They are do-it-yourself animals.

I know people with long-haired cats that have to get them groomed. I’d hate to be that groomer!

They really are exhausted. For us, going to get a hair cut or something like that is no big deal. But for them, they get dragged into the car, dropped off at a strange place. Dumped in a tub of soapy water Scrubbed, clipped, combed. It gets done every 3-months, but for them, that’s a lifetime. They don’t remember the previous time. Some dogs enjoy getting groomed. Bonnie is okay, to a point, but Gibbs is not a happy camper. It seems funny, but it really IS traumatic for them.
Dogs that are groomed more frequently are better about it, but for our guys — they have no idea why all this stuff is going on. And I haven’t figured out how to explain it to them. I wish I could.

It would be wonderful to be able to speak with our animals, but i wonder if we would always like what they had to say?? 😉
I suspect they might be able to explain a few things to us as well that we would be all the better for knowing 🙂
love.

I live in the belief that the things about me I don’t much like are the things the dogs like best.
