A couple of these, I had already tried in black and white. They were hard to see in color — Too busy with the birds, trees, and everything. I got lucky with that set of pictures. There was a lady near the lake feeding them. That’s why there were so many. You couldn’t quite see her because she was behind the trees, but that’s why there was such flock of so many different birds. I think she must be a regular because every winged creature in the neighborhood came out for a feeding.
That heron had just taken a bath in the river. So he was standing in his patch of sun. Stretching one wing, then another, then his head. He stood there a long time and I got LOTS of shots — the best value for having a very long lens camera. I couldn’t have gotten any of those shots without the long lens. He was actually the full width of the river away … and also quite a bit below me (I was up on the bridge).
Enjoying our birds friends. Though several are just passing through.

Lovely photos Marilyn. That touch of orange on the beak is gorgeous.

White ducks, dark river, orange beak. He could have been designed by a photographer 😀

Good job capturing the flight movement of the gulls. My fave is the night heron, though.

The best part of photography is that it draws you out and gives you an excuse to look closely.
