I think the whiteness of the landscape makes everything stand out in contrast. Not that I’m yearning for winter, mind you, but it is a great photographic time!
Basically, I prefer color for landscapes, usually, but sometimes, especially in winter, black and white works better. Sometimes waterfalls, too. It depends on lighting and contrast.
I’m hoping this isn’t one of the really bad winters. We now have a jumping dog and when the snow piles up against the fence, even Bonnie can just walk over it.

Winter is usually pretty much black and white anyway. That’s when I long for the colour green.
