Aren’t they? Same architect who build Carnegie in New York. Very similar decorations.

And pretty good at making sound resonate. The new ones they are building don’t have that brilliant resonance.

We have a rather new ( probably 20 years old now) with the worst acoustics. They had these hanging things that, at one point, were falling on the audience.

In that second photo, you treated that the same as you would a night time photo–minus the tripod?

Yes. Your need to set our camera on “point” light reading — NOT center-weighted and make sure you take your reading on THE LIGHTS. ONLY. Try it. It’s actually easier than you think 🙂

Yes. Actually, if you don’t do that, it’s likely your camera simply won’t fire at all and putting on flash ruins it. If you’re in a really dark place, NO white area with lights, you are just out of luck. The magic only works if you have the ingredients and you will probably take 10 fuzzy pictures for every sharp one. Thank G-d for digital!

Fine examples. I think you took me to Mechanics Hall before. That’s a nicely photographed ceiling.

I take a lot of pictures when I’m in one of those buildings because you can’t get in there unless there’s an event and you have an invitation. They aren’t otherwise open. I don’t know if I’ll ever be back there … hence the many pictures!

That second Mechanics Hall ceiling shot is wondrous. So very luminous.
