A Photo a Week Challenge: Off the Beaten Track
Find a place off the beaten track? Thinking about it left me puzzled.
When I got to think about this, I realized I couldn’t find a more “off-the-beaten-path” place than where we already live. We aren’t near a major highway or even close to the suburb of a city. We are, as they say, “in the middle of nowhere.”

It is a lovely nowhere and we have no plans to move back to “somewhere.”

How wonderful to have all this amazing beauty so close to home. Thanks for joining the challenge!

The area is really pretty far off. It’s not a very exciting place to be, but it’s pretty and it’s quiet and as long as we can drive and manage our own lives, we’re good.

Love the sunlight shots. I would love to live off the beaten path like you, with the gate and all!

It has pluses. It also has minuses. We have no public transportation and very few public services. As long as you don’t need much help from your community, it’s fine. It gets a little more complicated if you need help. It’s not that they are unwilling, but there isn’t much money for services.

Amazing how you caught those rays of sunlight.

If you aim your camera at the sun, then move it slightly offside, you’ll get the rays. Try it. It works.

Neat trick. I did not know that.

We live much as you do, our driveway is about 1/2 mile long to the nearest road, and 8 miles to town. If we want food, we have to travel another 10.
It’s beautiful out here, but it can be a challenge in the winter.
It’s about as close to nowhere as you can get, since we can’t even see our neighbors. Then again, they can’t see us, either. =)

Yes, winter. Winter can be a fearful thing. I’m hoping it is NOT a really awful one. The older I get, the more worried I get about winter. We are less and less up to the challenge.

If you have neighbours then that counts as ‘somewhere’ to me! 🙂
I’ve been to the middle of nowhere and it nothing like as nice as where you two (5) are!

Our neighbors are not particularly helpful, which is an understatement. I know there are worse places to live. Including in many suburbs and cities. They only LOOK better.
