Cee’s Which Way Photo Challenge – November 17, 2017
Owen installed the chair stair life with nary a snarled curse in the air. Not only did he install it, but he never looked at the instructions until he got the electrical stuff and wanted to make sure he was attaching the connections correctly.
“How can you remember all that stuff?” I asked.
I am awed because I still can’t figure out how to put the ink cartridge in my printer — and have actually never known how. Printers are beyond me. And if that sounds ridiculous, don’t judge me. We all have limits.
My son put together the entire stair lift from pieces. He remembered how it had looked before he took it apart. All of it. Where the screws and bolts went. Where the switches needed to be placed. “I took it apart,” he pointed out.
“Taking it apart and then remembering how to put it back together — without even referring to the directions — is … amazing.”
I don’t think he sees it as amazing. He’s always been able to do that. Therein lies the difference in the way our brains are wired. I remember concepts. Ideas. I connect them. He remember how things work. And how to connect them. If we are all abandoned on a desert island, I’m pretty sure his abilities will be of far more use than mine.

Cee, it already has! Thanks, Owen!

Maybe you can make a little money on the side by selling ride tickets to the neighbors…
There is nothing simple about installing an ink cartridge either. The instructions make it seem simple, but it isn’t….

Thank you. I thought I was the last remaining person on earth who couldn’t get it right. I always wind up putting it in wrong and ruin the entire printer. These days, I don’t print much. Just directions because our GPS is untrustworthy.

These days it’s often cheaper just buying an entire new printer than buying a replacement cartridge! The times i print i probably need a new version for each print job anyway 😦
Great pic of B & G. I hope there is enough room for the chair and the doggie door?

Oh, yes. The entire landing is empty. And there’s more than enough room for people to walk up and down, too. I think they were just puzzled as to “what that thing is that’s moving” 🙂

Which one do you think will be the first to ride it on your lap?? 😉
I’m thinking the young Sir Duke!

I love Bonnie and Gibbs overseeing the project. As long as it passed their approval…..

They are baffled by it, but if I’m in it, they have to watch because it’s … well … different. What could it mean? How does it affect their relationship with people going up and down the stairs? They LOVE standing at the top an watching people come up. They have a whole thing about being above us while we labor up the stairs 😀

it looks much better than the behemoths you see in ads, and damned comfy. That expression on the dogs’ faces is a wonderful combination of doubt and apprehension and curiosity. “I sure hope she doesn’t make ME ride in that…” ‘Oh, I don’t know, it might be fun to try…”
I am very impressed with Owen’s accomplishment. Almost like a tactile photographic memory thing. As he said, he took it apart, so he remembers what goes where.

It is pretty comfortable and compact. It also works better than others I’ve encountered. Actually, it works really well. I’m not using it much because as long as I can use my legs, I will … but I’m really glad to have a choice.
Owen did an incredible job. And quickly, too.

Owen has done a great job and it will be so useful to get heavy stuff up and down stairs. It does look kind of fun to ride too. Bonnie and Gibbs’ expressions are priceless!

It is fun. It doesn’t seem it ought to be fun, but I’m rather enjoying riding it just because, without any reason to even be going up and down. I’m sure I’ll get over it.

That looks great, a real professional job, congratulations to the young man. I am sure it makes life a lot easier.

Yes, it does. I don’t always use it, but being ABLE to use it really matters. Especially when there are packages to carry.

So far, I have used it mostly to move stuff. Garry was really looking forward to that, too! But I kind of enjoy riding in it. I know it sounds a bit silly, but it’s sort of fun. As I was riding up and down on it, I realized that I am the same lady who spent years riding roller coasters … and now, I get a little dizzy in my stair lift. Time, they have changed. It’s a HUGE improvement.

It looks like fun to ride — you can amuse yourself by riding up and down, and maybe even having races with the dogs to see who gets to the other end first!

They will win. It’s not a speed racer. But oddly, it IS fun. You wouldn’t think so, but it’s fun. It’s particularly enjoyable taking pictures of the dogs while I ride up and down. They are fascinated by it … and a bit perturbed. It’s something absolutely new.

Before long, the dogs will ride, and you’ll have to wait for them to get where they’re going before you can ride!

God bless Owen for that. I couldn’t help thinking what a great idea. Just think of all the groceries etc. let alone yourselves that it will help up those stairs.
