BLACK & WHITE STRUCTURE – THE BLACK & WHITE CHALLENGE

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Structure

I love black & white structure. If I have one favorite thing to do in monochrome, anything structural from a cathedral to a scaffold is fair game. And, coincidentally, I’ve been reworking a lot of pictures from the past and many of them in black & white.

Briefly, on the subject of black & white versus black & white with bits of color: I eventually decided I like black & white to be at least monochrome. If not actually black and white, at least one tone and whitish. I’m not sure why I feel like that because I quite admire what other people do with color as focal points. Maybe it’s because I’m not all that good at it.

  3. As in this case, some pictures are just meant to be in black and white. I want to shoot more of them. They really have a certain appeal to them, don’t they?

    • I shoot for angles. I stand in strange positions to make a building seem to loom up at me. Especially in cities. The thing is, this kind of photograph, cities are the best places to shoot, so when you live in the country, it’s harder to find those shots. When we finally ARE in a city, I try to take a lot of pictures so I have something to work on later. I’m reworking material I took years ago. We haven’t gone into town for quite a while and the way traffic is, it’s not looking likely.

      • We both keep saying that we must get to the city soon. I want a night shot of all the lights and will try to get some building shots like you did. Maybe once the weather is warm we will spend a week-end there.

    • And this shop had more t-shirts than I’ve seen anywhere else. No matter what your taste, they had something for everyone. We each bought one. Garry bought an Abraham Lincoln shirt and I got a ghosts of Gettysburg shirt.
