As February is ending, it is time for another “Changing Seasons” post. I haven’t gotten the alert, but I’ve been doing this for two years, so I don’t have a problem doing it again.
It has been a truly dull month for photography. A little bit of snow, a lot of rain. Some very warm, shirtsleeve weather, then a little more snow. February and March are the two most erratic months for weather in this region.
February is often the worst month for blizzards and really heavy snow and just because the month is almost over, it’s much too early to stow your winter gear.
This is one of those weird months where it feels like any number of seasons. Today was springtime. I was outside taking pictures in my dress. Not even a sweatshirt. Garry went out in a hoodie and felt he was overdressed.
But tomorrow, we’re expecting a few inches (more? less?) of snow.
A chilly gray day
I have not taken many pictures this month. Everything has been boringly grey or mud brown, with a little snow occasionally to brighten it up. Not very exciting for a photographer.
But — some months are not terribly interesting. I’m just grateful we didn’t get three feet of snow!

My favourite capture is the close up of your indoor plant’s flower? You’ve made it so magically translucent! What kind of flower is it?

Thank you. It actually IS translucent, but getting that in the picture is a bit tricky because I need to shoot into the light, but not directly … sort of “off angle.” I had a great blossoming of that Christmas Cactus this year, so I had a lot of chances to play with lighting. Towards the end, I think I finally got what I was trying to get. It’s also tricky to get the translucency without losing the color 😀

Season will start to change here soon. It will be the first Spring that I can not attend to things early on as I usually do. Things will have to grow right where they are and it is unlikely I am planting anything this year. We are still eager for Spring anyway.

Our garden is a tragedy and I don’t see it changing.

I am hoping I perk up a bit by the time it is spring. Sometimes, I do. My back and I are having a rough go of it right now, but the weather isn’t helping. I should remind you that a year of missed gardening is not fatal. You’ll be surprised how good it will still look, even with the weeds.

Ours has continued to look good — at least during flowering — more than anyone would expect. We’ve lost all the fancy flowers, but the tough perennials keep on coming.

I discovered today that the sun did not actually explode a week ago, and that it is possible to go outside and not get wet. If this weeklong monsoon had been snow, we’d have been digging out until May…

Same deal here. At least is wasn’t the 9 feet of snow that rain COULD have been. I’m told that the sun — the great Burning Orb in the Sky — will someday return. I can only dream.

I didn’t get your post. I usually do, so i don’t know why I didn’t get it. But you know, WordPress does weird stuff and there are days when i get almost nothing and days when I’m DELUGED.

I know what you mean; I seem to be losing posts from a few of people. One or two don’t post all the frequently, so I don’t think to go looking for them. And I seem to be going through another phase where WP decides to put comments from people I interact with a lot into the spam folder. Grrr.

I could do with a good blizzard (3′ please) and snowed in 3+ days with my teen so we can hang out and be silly!! ⛄❄

If it didn’t come with the expense of plowing it AND the mess of trying to walk through it, I wouldn’t mind. But my walking isn’t great these days and tons of snow doesn’t help it. Nor does the $50 a hit plowing!

I love the frog in his white winter blanket, and the ‘snow shadow’ of the table on the patio (Aussie for deck) 😉

My frog is my little weather beaten friend. Through hot summers and snowy winter, he just sits there, bug-eyed and happy 🙂
