Today is Charlie Austin’s Memorial Service. It’s in Dorchester, so we will be gone much if not most of the day. It’s just been that kind of week. We’re out of here in about half an hour and I’m not sure when we will be home again, so if I don’t get to you, tomorrow will be another day.
The weather has truly skewered us. All week it has been lovely, but today — when we have a long haul into Boston — it’s raining and cold. Driving will be slow and I’m already shivering.
If I don’t catch anyone today, tomorrow I hope I can catch up. I have to admit, I seem to be falling further and further behind. It’s possible I will never catch up!
We’ve been out of the house pretty much every day … and there’s not enough time to get everything done. Apologies to all!
Hugs my friends on this gray, wet, day.

Loved Charlie Austin when he was on our TV news. And we shared your difficult commute today, as we headed to Hyannis from Winchendon for the funeral of a wonderful 1-3 year old “old Cape Codder”.

And traffic was really really heavy. It was okay when we were going into Dorchester, but it was really bad coming home. We never figured out way.
I guess we both had quite a day.

Mom, I was lucky to have Charlie Austin as a FRIEND as well as a peer. I’m grateful to have been asked to speak at the Memorial Service. There was so much love in the room, befitting Charlie’s life and legacy.

Garry, I am so glad that you were able to be there for your friend. I remember both of you from a time when it seemed that our local newspeople were OUR friends, confidants and truth givers. A life well lived, for sure.

Thanks, Mom. Without rose-colored glasses, those were better days.

It was a beautiful service. Rarely do you know anyone about whom no one has anything bad to say, but Charlie was that kind of man.

He was. Really. Just like people you see in movies.
