COLUMBINE BLOOMING – Marilyn Armstrong

Flower of the Day – Columbine Blooming

We had one sunny day and the columbine bloomed. It is still blooming and this, being a relatively long-lived flower, will continue blooming for at least another week.

    1. It probably comes from your part of the world, which is probably also why it grows so well this far north. A lot of plants I tried didn’t survive our winters, but these seem very happy, snow and ice and everything.

  1. What a lovely columbine collage. I had a problem with leaf miners in my garden so right now I don’t have any columbine, but it is a favorite flower. I wish they lasted longer in the season.

  2. One of these days, I’ll post some pics of my columbine. Same color. Decided to volunteer in a south facing graveled area. Hot, not irrigated and it does fine. Tough plants! Colorado state flower, too.

  3. Every time I see columbines, I think of the shootings at Columbine HS. The school was the closest HS from where I lived. It rocked Colorado. Your Columbines are gorgeous.

        1. You made me wonder what OUR state flower is. Turns out, it is the Mayflower. Those little purple flowers I find everywhere in my yard are our state flower. I can see why, too. They are EVERYWHERE in the early spring.
