LOOKING OUT, LOOKING IN – Marilyn Armstrong

A Photo a Week Challenge: Opening

I’ve always loved the view through an opening. Whether it is the exit from a tunnel or the world outside a doorway, there is something magical about it.

A peek inside through a slightly opened door

Through the tepee door …

  2. To me, a doorway or window is always an invitation to explore somewhere new. 🙂 These are all fantastic. I agree with everyone about the teepee; it is the perfect shot. Thanks for joining the challenge!

  3. Doors usually lead to somewhere and windows are the doors of our imagination.

  4. There’s something tantalizing about that peek. What will we find? What’s on the other side? A peek into the future, of possibilities? I agree.

    • That’s the secret. What magic is on the other side of that opening!

      • I know right? I had two replicas of paintings, they were streets in Europe somewhere, and the way the painting was done, it was a direct invitation to wander, and to peek through any of the doors that lined the street. It was captivating enticing and filled with expectation. It’s the same with your photos! Loved them all. I had that same feeling looking at them 🙂 Magic!

    • I thought so, too. A bit small, but that was as big as I had room for. I could have gotten — free — a really HUGE one but the poles, which I would have needed to buy, would have been a huge expense. And really, there was nowhere to put something that big. It was half the size of my house.

  6. Always uplifting somehow – a glimpse through an aperture. Sometimes it’s about an unexpected find; sometimes about moving into fresh territory; sometimes just creating a frame for focusing the mind. I think you’ve captured each of these here.

    • I’ve gotten good at shooting out into bright light from shadow, so I can always use trees as a “frame.” Doors are like frames and we all know how important it is to properly frame a picture 🙂

    • It was great when I had it. Now, I probably would fall down rather than getting into it. But for the years I had it, it was truly delightful and it was all mine. Well, it was also Kaitlin’s 🙂
