There is something about piles of leaves! They conjure up a desire to jump in them as well as a fear of what may be underneath. A hole? An upturned rake? Snakes? Bear traps? Undeniable in their beauty, though. You’ve got good uns! The first two are my special favorites, but all are lush and beautiful.
I’m just laughing because the idea of jumping into anything is hilarious. A couple of years ago I had a mental breakdown and hopped off the curb into the street … and my back screamed in agony. “Well,” I thought, “That wasn’t well thought out.”
I have since resisted any form of jumping. But what I remember best is the smell of piles of burning leaves. Until they outlawed the fires, I loved that smell!
This is one of the most glorious bits about autumn…. I love raking them together but bending over a thousand times is killing my back – and I often rake them over the flower beds under the trees, they give a great protection against the cold and slip easily underneath the shrubs and plants. But you’re right, when they are lying at the wrong place they’re a bl…..y nuisance and highly dangerous. We have two lovely and totally impractical meandering ‘walks’ of stepping stones who I avoid like the pestilence when it’s even slightly wet. I’ve fallen too often and hurt myself and one time I won’t be able to get up any more…. But look at those pics – they are really showing off nature at its best!
The leaves are almost as beautiful on the ground as they were on their trees. I understand the need to keep the ground cleaned off, but I’d want to leave them for a few days!
It’s supposed to be nice tomorrow, so I have to take some more pictures. We own 2.5 acres and have about 3 million dead leaves. it’s massive! I just need to get them up before it snows. All those leaves under snow? Treacherous to humans, dogs, and cars.

We have a lot of land. We can’t. We really can’t. We need a crew.

Impossible to keep up with the leaves there, I would imagine. I love your frog.

Oh, it’s totally crazy. It’ll take a crew to clean up the mess.

Like the photo’s. 🙂
The danger to you is snow mixing with leaves… the danger here is wildfire raging through those leaves.
We live in decidedly different worlds… in some respects! 😉

We have the wildlife, TOO. AND the snow.

That’s a lot of raking! 🙂 They are quite beautiful even when on the ground

There are just literally millions and millions of leaves, so we need help. I could never have done all of this, even when I was younger.

Since our local authorities have these leaf blowers, we have a lot less to see. However whe I retake the path along the river it is a golden carpet

They are beautiful, but when icy or wet, they are also very slippery.

Yes, I understand the dangers of all those leaves under snow — photos in the morning, then begin to rake leaves?
